The Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) starred THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) performed well during the Lunar New Year, its Hong Kong box office alone was already 18 million and its global box office was 150 million.  The film company last night held a celebration.  Aside from the leads, director Dante Lam Chiu Yin, Andy On Chi Kit and boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing were in attendance.  At the event Lam Chiu Yin received a "Lunar New Year film box office champion" plaque from the boss.  Everyone also participated in a toast and Lo Hei ceremony for better luck and box office.

Ting Fung admitted that he was very happy about the ideal box office but he did not know yet whether a sequel will be made.  His former wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and their two sons lived near the venue.  Did he visit his sons on the way?  He said, "I just did this morning, (Why didn't you bring your sons?)  I don't do that."  However he admitted that during the Lunar New Year he brought his sons on visits for laisee.  Because he was rarely in Hong Kong, sometimes he did not want to go.  His older son Lucas also asked him to stay in Hong Kong more.  He explained that Papa has to work, luckily Lucas understood.  He even praised Lucas for taking care of his brother Quintus and would not fight over toys.  Once they hit their heads during play, Lucas ignored himself to take care of his brother right away.  He was very touched to see that, but he did not understand Quintus had very little hard and a receding hair line.

Did he see Pak Chi when he visited his sons?  He said not every time.  As for their rumored reunion, he said that he and Pak Chi had New Year dinner.  He also dined with his parents and sister but not together.  He even joked, "With all the New Year meals I got much fatter, during the interview I had to suck in my gut.  (You were divorced but dined together, did your sons feel strange?)  Nowadays divorces are very common, my sons would understand."  He said that Lucas wants his parents to be together but mentions it only occasionally.  Ting Fung also said, "I heard from my former wife that Lucas would cry when he sees people beating me up on television, like when I was little I would cry when I saw Papa being executed."

Chow Kit Lun last night appeared in costume.  He said that after the celebration he would shave.  Speaking of he and rumored girlfriend Hannah Quinlivan (Kun Ling) being caught at dinner together, he said, "No, really?  During the New Year I dined with many friends."  As for Kun Ling's mother being caught helping out at his restaurant, he admitted that sometimes when the restaurant was busy many friends would help.  He stressed that Mother Ling only volunteered her help and did not work for her.  The restaurant was opened in commemoration of the film INITIAL D (TAU MAN JI D)'s eighth anniversary.  This time with THE VIRAL FACTOR he wanted to open a toy gun store, but his mother objected.  Did he need his mother's permission on everything including choosing a girlfriend?  He said, "Choosing a girlfriend also need mother's nod."

[2011.12.02] GE YOU SIGNS WITH EMPEROR

Mainland Best Actor Ge You yesterday attended a press conference to officially sing with Emperor for three major productions in five years.  Emperor invested 500 million RMB on Ge You to plan and create movies, but he mercilessly joked that Emperor artists' Mandarin was not authentic enough.

Ge You yesterday attended the press conference in Happy Valley, announced the Emperor collaboration and signed the contract.  Big boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing led many of the company's artists like Twins, William Chan Wai Ting, Ken Hung Cheuk Lap and Sherman Chung Shu Man in support.  Ge You also announced that in the next five years he will plan film projects that he will star in and make three movies.  Reportedly the total investment amount reached 500 million RMB.

Ge You reiterated that he still was handling scripts.  As for the subjects, he responded, "I don't even know whether they are ancient, modern or contemporary yet."  Would he like to direct?  Ge You admitted, "Ten years ago someone has already asked me to direct, but for now I still haven't had the idea.  After being an actor for such a long time I feel being a director is too much trouble!"  He also mentioned that before the event he chatted with a male Emperor artist and discovered that with his accent he would have difficulty playing someone from Beijing.  He said, "He would be more suitable to play someone from Hong Kong who went to work in Beijing."  As for which artist he would like to work with, he admitted that if he had the chance he would like to work with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung.  As for the salary, he stressed that it was satisfactory but the most important was the large creative space.  He also said, "Yeung Sau Sing has been my friend for many years, I feel he is both familiar and pleasant."  On the other hand, Emperor boss Yeung Sau Sing said that he was deeply pleased to be able to sign Ge You but declined to discuss the salary.  He said, "We have been good friends for many years, being able to sign him truly is rare."  Yeung Sau Sing also said that this time he will provide him with a lot of freedom.  This time Ge You would be responsible for the film projects.

Yeung Sau Sing said, "Only they know about the Mainland taste, like I don't understand the jokes in IF YOU ARE THE ONE 2 either."  He also stated that Ge You was the top actor in three lands on both sides of the strait.  He said, "Last Christmas he alone made 1.5 billion at the box office.  This year he hasn't made any movie.  I am worried about him having to make three movies in five years.  However he can decide whether they will be costume or modern."  As for signing others, Yeung Sau Sing said that many are under negotiation.  For example Jiang Wen is already a steady collaboration partner.  Emperor also has a part in Feng Xiaogang's movies.  It will also work with Chen Kaige's large production.  As for signing actresses, Yeung Sau Sing thought that the film industry remained male artist dominated so he has not had such a thought.  He said, "The Mainland is actor driven, few female Mainland stars can carry the box office.  It's the same way in Hong Kong, with Wa Jai (Andy Lau), Wai Jai (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and (Nicholas) Tse Ting Fung.  Few actresses can carry the entire film."  As for Ge You's accusation that some Emperor male artists' Mandarin was not Beijing enough, Yeung Sau Sing took the chance to reveal that he just talked with Kenny Kwan Chi Bun and criticized his poor Mandarin.  Would he hire someone to instruct?  He replied, "I will ask Mani (Fok Man Hei) to take care of it."

Kenny admitted that his accent was not Beijing enough, thus making local series would be hard.  However he said, "Ordinary communication isn't a problem.  We will improve our Beijing accent in hopes of being able to work with Ge You."  Steven Cheung Chi Hung said that he believed he would have to live there be able to practice his Beijing accent.  He said, "We ask Mani to get more Mainland series for us."  Twins' Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin admitted that Ge You was very highly positioned and very nice.  "If I will be able to work with him, I will be willing to sweep the floor and empty the trash."  Speaking of her less than fluent Mandarin, Ah Sa said, "Hong Kong artists indeed can improve more.  In the past I wanted to provide my own voice for my Mandarin roles, but because the approval required Beijing accent in the end I couldn't."

Emperor Motion Picture and Huayi Brothers two nights ago held a celebration in Tsim Sha Tsui. Nick Cheung Ka Fai two nights ago lost to Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and could not win Best Actor, but he still attended the celebration. Why was he so relaxed? Ka Fai said that on the day of the nomination announce he already called Ting Fung. Because they were co-stars, Ka Fai said that he saw how hard Ting Fung worked. Of course he was asked whether he wanted to win, of course he wanted to. However seeing Ting Fung win was good as well. He said, "Although Best Actor is a personal award, it was the only award for STOOL PIGEON. I am very happy that Ting Fung won it this time." Would he ask him to dinner and celebrate? Ka Fai said, "He prefers to be alone, I prefer to be alone. We are busy on our own and don't need to see each other all the time. We would ultimately run into each other." Ka Fai revealed that he will work on a new film in which he played a murderer with a mental condition. The character was dark. He said, "I already started losing weight long ago. If you see me getting thinner and thinner, don't be too frightened."

To celebrate Ting Fung's Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, Emperor boss Yeung Sau Sing would like to make a movie with Ting Fung and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi since Ting Fung and Pak Chi have not had a chance to make a movie together. As for a raise for Ting Fung, Yeung Sau Sing said that Ting Fung would be pleased but did not need any deliberate encouragement. Yeung Sau Sing said, "He wouldn't nitpick with me. Since his birth to now, I watch him grow for 30 years." As for a special celebration for Ting Fung, he said that they might not have time because Ting Fung had to rush to Malaysia for a movie. Yeung Sau Sing said that Ting Fung's new film THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) shot many grand scenes with planes and cannons and spent over 180 million. He was confident that it would make next year's Hong Kong Film Award. In addition, two nights ago Yeung Sau Sing, Cheung Ka Fai, Lau Ka Ling and Tse Ting Fung along with Jackie Chan, Zhou Xun, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Deep Ng Ho Hong, Tsui Hark, Shi Nansun and Stephen Fung Tak Lun attended. Nicholas Tse Ting Fung yesterday dressed up to celebrate his post production company Post Production Office's relocation. His father Patrick Tse Yin and boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing came in support.

Ting Fung first displayed the film work to the media and revealed that the company has already been established for eight years. At the time he put a mortgage on his home and invested seven figures on it. Now over half international brand name advertising and film company post productions came from them. The company also had an office in Shanghai.

As for the low profile, Ting Fung said, "I held back for a long time. I don't want any unnecessary trouble. If the company gets its clients due to my fame and popularity, I feel it wouldn't be success. In addition it is not long term enough, one thing at a time. My being an
artist is another matter, the investment is a dream." Ting Fung said that actually industry insiders all knew. Did he only publicize because he felt like it performed? Ting Fung thought that at the time the performance was not great, now it is mature enough and paper cannot wrap up fire. Who would have 13,000 square foot office in Causeway Bay? In addition it was not like it was embarrassing, and Wong Jing already leak the news earlier. Ting Fung also said that at the time he was interested in this business because Hong Kong was under Korean and Japanese storm influence. When he made the JADE BUTTERFLY music video he thought something was missing. After an in depth understanding he realized that he had to merge pre production, production and post production into one for the result to be its best. However at the time he heard the film had to be shipped overseas for post production and he was somewhat upset. Ting Fung said, "I was a little mad, why can't Chinese people, Hong Kong people do it all at once? I originally wanted to maintain the broadcast quality of my work, but now I hope to maintain Hong Kong broadcast quality."

Would he consider taking the company public? Ting Fung thought that the company just moved into a five story new address, he would like to first take care of that. In addition no post production company in history has been publicly traded. Reporters said that he could be the first. Ting Fung thought that instead of going public, his goal was cultivating talent. He would like the company to make Sundays open house days to provide instructors and tools to educate young people who are interested for free. He hoped to be able to tell the entire world Hong Kong can. Has he already made his money back? Ting Fung smiled and only said that the company every year would spend several tens of millions on taking care of employees and expenses. Since 2004, the company went form 11 people to an annual growth of 35%.

Ting Fung said that he mainly was responsible for management and marketing, the rest was left to his partners. Would he become his own manager later? Ting Fung said, "No, my contract with Emperor hasn't ended. In addition managers have to argue with others, which I don't like. (Now you are doing it?) Right now I am managing others, currently I am 99% uninterested. (How many years do you have left on your contract?) I just signed the contract last week, actually the company gave me a lot of freedom."

In addition, speaking of his wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi earlier accidentally hit an old man while driving. Ting Fung said that his wife was more worried about the uncle's injury. Her personality has always kept others in mind. Ting Fung continued, "I am not qualified to participate because the matter is in the hands of the police. I am afraid of saying something wrong. (Would she take care of the uncle?) She would."

Chung Shu Man said that she was already very nervous about this event days ago. "Si Nga called me yesterday too and said that she did not know what to wear. She also sent me pictures of her trying different clothes." Chung Shu Man and Si Nga yesterday visited the company stall at the Entertainment Expo with boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing, who praised them as dressing very prettily. Chung Shu Man said, "Boss told me to work hard on artist work. Boss said that he would give me opportunities for me to shine with different characters in movies in the future." Chung Shu Man thought that she did not know how to act, but she stressed that she would work hard and learn.

Chung Shu Man said that every time she would watch Si Nga's film and hoped that they would have a chance to work together. They could play crazy women. Si Nga said that she has seen Chung Shu Man's movie with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and thought that Chung Shu Man played very well. Yesterday someone mistook Si Nga for Fan Bingbing. Si Nga said, "I never met Fan Bingbing. She is really very pretty. I want to look like her very much, I would be happier than if I won an award."

SHAOLIN (SUN SIU LUM JI) will open in Hong Kong on January 27. Two nights ago actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Jackie Chan, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Fan Bingbing, Wu Jing, Yu Shaoqun and others in the company of director Benny Chan Muk Sing and Emperor boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing attended the Beijing global premiere. Although the climate was chilling, it was not enough to stop Wa Jai and Ting Fung's fans who braved the cold to cheer on their idols.

Ting Fung again stressed that after working with Brother Wa he learned a lot and thanked Wa Jai for all his help over the years. Ting Fung said that back then whenever he went on stage, as soon as the host said the word "Tse" he would hear jeers. In 1999, Lau Tak Wa invited him to be his concert guest performance as they sang THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE, the audience recognized him. He still respected and appreciated this elder very much. Wa Jai joked that when Tse Ting Fung was very little he carried him, so he should help out the younger generation.

Busy with his new film, Jackie Chan did not arrive until the end of the ceremony and was a pleasant surprise for the premiere. Working with Wa Jai 20 years later, Jackie Chan described the feeling as wonderful. They seemed to have reunited after experiencing a lot, which made it very meaningful. He even described Wa Jai and Ting Fung as absolutely a life risking pair as they set off a lot of spark. Bingbing said that she had action scene after action scene. In order to save her daughter she fought with the enemy. When she slapped Wa Jai, after the shoot she realized that her palm was all red. Only then did she realize how hard she hit, which was very memorable for her.

Shaolin Temple head abbot Shi Yongxin led the disciples and the eighteen Bronze Men of Shaolin to the event and performed authentic Shaolin kung fu. At the event the head abbot hoped that through this film the world would truly understand the authentic Shaolin martial art and Zen martial art spirit. He also donated his own calligraphy work for charity purposes. The director also said that the film will be able to spread Shaolin Temple's spirit of justice, charity and mercy. In addition six little monk even danced hip hop as Wa Jai performed his film theme song COMPREHEND in public for the first time.
