[2012.03.12] SHAWN YUE CALLS WORKING WITH MINI YANG GREAT

courtesy of takungpao.com

Yesterday, Hong Kong director Pang Ho Cheung brought the flavorful romantic comedy LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) to Shenzhen and held an advanced screening.  After the show lead actor Shawn Yue Man Lok arrived in support and admitted that he liked Mini Yang Mi's flight attendant look in the film very much.  The kiss scene with Beijing girl Yang Mi even made him feel bashful.  However, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa revealed earlier, "During the intimate scene, the director in order to demonstrate to Yang Mi even personally performed an ambiguous show with Yue Man Lok.  The passion was endless."

The "internet slang" dialogue in LOVE IN THE BUFF was very viewer friendly.  The ordinary film content even due to "Pang's heavy ingredient" additions was uniquely savory.  Yang Mi in the film played a post 90 flight attendant who not only had a busty hot pant performance but also an intellectual uniform look.  The four characters in the film represented four types of people in the romantic world.

Speaking of working with Yang Mi, Yue Man Lok had nothing but praise.  "Yang Mi's character has natural requirements, she has to meet those conditions to be able to play it.  Yang Mi's figure is great, her acting also adds color and brings life to this character."  Why would Chi Ming be attracted to Youyou?  Yue Man Lok joked, "Youyou in the film is the opposite of Chun Giu.  Her figure is great, she is younger than Chun Giu, these conditions would easily attract Cheung Chi Ming to her."

In the film, Pang Ho Cheung's romantic mottoes were endless. "You have to be mentally ready when you hang out, either you run into him or he runs into you"; "Life is so long, you are bound to fall for several scumbags"; "Some things don't need to be finished in one night.  Some thing won't happen again if you miss it tonight" and others all contain wisdom but are also viewer friendly.  Pang Ho Cheung has put this type of "art comes from life yet is higher than life" creative ideas in their original flavors into the film.

[2012.03.01] MIRIAM YEUNG BARES HER BACK TO TEMPT SHAWN YUE

courtesy of mingpao.com
courtesy of takungpao.com

LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) at the end of March will be released.  Both leads Shawn Yue Man Lok and Miriam Yeung Chin Wa looked forward to it very much.  The pregnant Yeung Chin Wa stated that on March 21 she definitely will "apply" to participate in the premiere with her husband.

Chin Wa in the film wore a revealing black dress, which Lok Jai joked that he would never imagine Chin Wa would wear.  In this scene Chin Wa met with her old flame Lok Jai.  He guessed that she would wear a low cut dress but it was a back baring dress that attracted his eyeballs.  This dress was Chin Wa's own.  She said that the team arranged many for her to try but she thought that Chun Giu wanted more, as she should be sexy yet not too deliberate.  She said, "I don't want to bare my chest since there isn't much to see.  So I brought my own dress.  Lok Jai's reaction proved that my decision was right!"

During the shoot they were very focused, except the Spanish dishes on the table distracted him.  Chin Wa and Lok Jai could not help themselves as they sat down and ate whenever the shoot stopped.  The team had to keep ordering to fill in the food that constantly disappeared in extreme speed.  In addition, when they shot in Beijing in one scene Chi Ming went out late with his co-workers; that day the director arranged for 200 extras, most of them were present because they liked director Pang Ho Cheung and knew that Yue Man Lok would be there when they automatically applied.  They were very focused during the shoot.  Instead Lok Jai who felt that he was no longer young was numb to going out at night.

As for Chin Wa who did not go out at night still had fun because she could work while applying a facial mask.  In one scene Chin Wa and her friends chatted while they applied facial masks and ate.

[2012.02.24] MIRIAM YEUNG INSISTS ON PROMOTING LOVE IN THE BUFF

The 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival yesterday officially announced Miriam Yeung Chin Wa as its ambassador again.  She and Shawn Yue Man Lok starred in the Pang Ho Cheung directed new film LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) will be the opening film and the closing film will be the Berlin Film Festival Best Cinematography Silver Bear Prize winner WHITE DEER PLAIN.  Director Peter Chan Ho Sun will be this year's Filmmaker in Focus.

Chin Wa, Ah Lok and Pang Ho Cheung yesterday attended the press conference in Tsim Sha Tsui.  Peter Lam Kin Ngok and Hong Kong International Film Festival Association chair Wong Ying Wai also attended.

Chin Wa revealed that she was over six months pregnant and so far she has gained 16 to 17 pounds.  Her husband Real Ting Chi Ko was no longer as "follow around hubby" but now she started to have sciatic nerve
pain.  Thus she had difficulty going out with friends.  After attending tomorrow's event, the film opening ceremony and LOVE IN THE BUFF premiere she will officially rest.  Since the LOVE production was very tough, she will persist no matter what.

Chin Wa said that lately she has been watching movies at home.  She did not have any taboo even with the kiss scene in LOVE IN THE BUFF because her child in the future will know her mother was an actor.  Chin
Wa said, "At most I would cover my legs if anything.  I am even watching the television series THE HIPPOCRATIC CRUSH (ON CALL 36 SIU SI) and am reminded of when I was a nurse.  It's pretty realistic, Ma Kwok Ming performs decently.  Right now I am like a canary!  (Have you pretend to roll around in bed?)  I don't sleep well, on the left I crush my heart and on the right my hip hurts.  The company doesn't dare to arrange too much work for me out of fear that I would doze off."

Lok Jai joked that promoting with Chin Wa was rather stressful because he was very worried that she would constantly go to the bathroom, vomit from the pregnancy or even giving birth on the spot.  Has Mr. Ting asked him to take care of her more?  Lok Jai said that went without saying.  He and the director would take care of her.  Seeing Chin Wa overflowing with happiness, has he been tempting to start his own family?
Lok Jai said, "No, who can be as happy as she is.  I really want her to spare me some.  She doesn't need peach blossom, every time you mention I sigh.  When you use up all the peach blossom you wither.  (Have you hidden any and not talk about it?)  I haven't, I am thirty something, if I have I would talk about it."  Lok Jai also said that he has not considered girls of other nationalities.  He was very nervous about his mother communicating with her, so he would like to find someone who spoke the same language.  If they had nothing to talk about it would be quite a bother, as he in the future would like to live with his family.

[2012.02.03] SHAWN YUE HAS FUN WITH PREGNANT MIRIAM YEUNG

courtesy of mingpao.com
courtesy of takungpao.com

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Shawn Yue Man Lok and director Pang Ho Cheung yesterday promoted their film LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) with a Mainland media interview.  Chin Wa's birthday was on February 3, the crew prepared a birthday cake and gave her a pleasant surprise.  Chin Wa immediately made a wish and cut the cake, but she did not reveal what the wish was.

Carrying a dragon baby Chin Wa became the focus of the interview.  When asked whether she liked a boy or a girl, she said it did not matter as she thought it being healthy would be the most important.  She also said that she was very nervous about this film.  As a workaholic, she would come out if she would be able to handle it.  Ah Lok said that he felt like he was lied to because during the shoot Chin Wa kept saying she was busy.  She had to work on the film, concert rehearsal and record promotion and said that she did not even have time to see her husband.  He did not expect her to on the mark, her (pregnancy) accuracy was truly too high.

Chin Wa explained that because her husband was young and they constantly exercised.  Pang Ho Cheung humorously joked, "What kind of exercise?"  Ah Lok added, "Where do you exercise?"  Chin Wa cracked up.  The director was asked whether he will make a movie about Chun Giu and Chi Ming as parents, Ah Lok said, "It should be made.  We should shoot it now and save it so nothing is wasted."

[2012.01.10] PREGNANT MIRIAM YEUNG PROMISES TO PROMOTE LOVE IN THE BUFF

courtesy of mingpao.com
courtesy of takungpao.com

The Pang Ho Cheung directed comedy romance LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) will be released simultaneously in the Mainland and Hong Kong late March.  This film continues the story of LOVE IN A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU).  After Chun Giu and Ji Ming's instant romance their relationship cooled down rapidly due to personality issues.  They even went to work in the Mainland on their own, both had "ideal mates" who appeared around them and made their romance even more complicated.  This time popular Mainland actors Mini Yang Mi and Xu Zheng joined the cast as Ji Ming and Chun Giu's second choices.

Currently pregnant, Chin Wa originally planned to be on her maternity leave.  Yet due to the film's promotional period, she set aside plans to take time off and hoped to complete all the film promotional work in her limited capacity.  Chin Wa pointed out that if her health would permit she would return work, including the film's March promotions in Hong Kong and the Mainland.  Shawn Yue Man Lok said that if the film would have a third installment, it could directly say Chin Wa was with child and her baby would be able to guest star in its first film.  Two versions of film posters have already been unveiled.  Pang Ho Cheung leaned toward the Chun Giu and Ji Ming embrace posting and posted it online, which was retransmitted over 10,000 times, a strong first wave for the film promotion.

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa immediately took time off after her concert last month.  Although Chin Wa was rumored to be pregnant, she never confirmed it.  Earlier her new film LOVE IN A BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING)'s team held a celebration for the completion of the film with Media Asia boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Chin Wa also attended.  Later leads Shawn Yue Man Lok and Yeung Chin Wa were interviewed.  Playing a couple in the film, off screen they kept trading verbal jabs for laughs.  With the director kept asking Chin Wa about her pregnancy rumors, Chin Wa did not know whether to laugh or to cry.

Ah Lok said as soon as he was in position for the interview, "Great, why are we so happy today?  We are celebrating Chin Wa's pregnancy, hahaha.  You better be careful, my mouth really stinks."  Chin Wa joked, "This isn't funny, today the director had a son, his son is 90 minutes long.  So everyone is celebrating."  Director Pang Ho Cheung said, "Today we are celebrating the completion of the production, but the post production has not been completed yet.  Now the most troublesome was too much comedy, the editing colleague said that it could be released in two parts because right now the film was longer than LORD OF THE RINGS."

Ah Lok joked, "Then are we getting paid for two movies?"  The director responded, "Of course not, be more mature.  Hahaha."  Chin Wa suddenly at this moment said that she had good news for the director.  Ah Lok said, "Huh, I really want to know, let's skip the interview.  Are you pregnant?"

Chin Wa hit Ah Lok and Ah Lok continued to joked, "You are so intense, can it be true?  Hahaha"  Then they opened bottles of champagne to celebrate.  Ah Lok who kept making fun of Chin Wa accidentally got champagne all over his pants, Chin Wa could not stop laughing.  Chin Wa only raised her glass and did not touch a drop.

 courtesy of takungpao.com

Pang Ho Cheung's debut as a director ten years ago, the film YOU SHOOT I SHOOT (MAI HUNG PAK YUN) recently completed its digital restoration and was released on Blu Ray video.  Two nights ago it was screened in a cinema.

Jim Chim Shui Man after watching the digital restoration version was sentimental.  Chim Shui Man said, "A lot has changed over these ten years.  Back then still a DJ on Commercial Radio, Pang Ho Cheung approached me and said that he had a script to show me.  He also showed me his work.  He said that he would become a director soon.  After watching his work, I discovered that he was a mad man.  His work was very bloody.  I also discovered that he truly had some understanding of me.  Thus we very quickly agreed to work together."  He said that before making the film, few knew him.  Because of the film his popularity rose and even his income jumped.  Pang Ho Cheung said, "Now he is rich."

Pang Ho Cheung said that he always maintained as collaborative  relationship with Chim Shui man.  They recently worked together on the film LOVE IN A PUFF 2 (CHUN GIU YU JI MING).  Pang Ho Cheung responded to the audience that the film that he was the most dissatisfied with was EXODUS (CHOOK AI CUP GEI).  Without any line in the film Chim Shui Man joked, "He was the most dissatisfied so he banned me from speaking in the film."  Chim Shui Man hoped that he and Pang Ho Cheung would work together again, with him as the director and Pang Ho Cheung as the actor.

At the event everyone was full of witty remarks and cracked up the reporters on hand. LOVE after starting production in Hong Kong moved to Beijing for location shots. When asked about shooting in Beijing, Chin Wa pointed out that the director and Ah Lok kept telling dirty jokes on the set. "Yue Man Lok and the director kept laughing while shooting. They asked me to perform because I am old, otherwise they would only have two results, either they would get yelled at or she would just quit."

As for the rumored Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) performance, the director joked, "I never had the idea, but initially I asked Tom Cruise. He didn't have the time. I also asked Johnny Depp but his Chinese wasn't all that great. Finally I asked Teacher Xu Zheng." The bald Xu Zheng joked, "Aside from hairstyle, we are all the same type." The host asked Ah Lok in real life whether he would choose Chin Wa or Yang Mi as a girlfriend. The director answered for him. "I grew up overseas, under the Western influence I am more open minded. So I feel 3P would be decent." Yang Mi also said, "All four of us actors together would work too!" Ah Lok joked, "Why didn't you say something earlier? I waited for you to say that for a long time."

[2011.02.25] FENG XIAOGANG, TSUI HARK, JACKIE CHAN, SEQUELS EXTEND SUCCESS

courtesy of takungpao.com

Huayi Brothres last year produced many commercial and critical hit films. Yesterday Huayi Brothers 2011 Project H press conference was held in Beijing to to announce the company's 2011 film plans. This year Huayi will invest in ten new films, three of which will be sequels LOVE IN SPACE, DETECTIVE DEE prequel and PAINTED SKIN 2. LOVE IN SPACE (CHUEN KAU YIT LUEN) continues from HOT SUMMER DAYS (CHUEN SING YIT LUEN YIT LAT LAT) while PAINTED SKIN 2 will be Wu Ershan directed. As for whether the Tsui Hark directed DETECTIVE DEE prequel will have the original cast Andy Lau Tak Wa, Li Bingbing, Carina Lau Ka Ling and others, Tsui Hark played mysterious. He only said that Detective Dee will be
younger, but their experience was even more mature.

Aside from sequels, heavyweights like Jackie Chan and Ronny Yu Yun Tai will work with Huayi on CHINESE ZODIAC and YANG CLAN WARRIORS. As Huayi Brother's most prominent director, Feng Xiaogang's AFTER SHOCK last year was very popular. Reportedly Feng Xiaogang this year will make either BATTLE OF TRIANGLE HILL or BOMBING OF CHONGQING. Yesterday the press conference only revealed that Feng Xiaogang will make a new film next year. Huayi chief Wang Zhonglei said that Feng Xiaogang this year indeed will make a big production, the preparation and the production period would be very long and require a lot of personnel and material. The title, subject and other details will be announced later.

"Little Director Fung" Stephen Fung Tak Lun this year will make TAI CHI, Huayi Brothers first giant production of 2011 with Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) and Chen Kuo-Fu as producers. Fung Tak Lun recently signed with Huayi under the radar and became Huayi's first Hong Kong star. Huayi in return presented an extravagant "dowry", aside from promising Fung Tak Lun independent professional agent team it also will tailor many film and television productions for him. TAI CHI will be Fung Tak Lun's first film as a director after joining Huayi.

Producer Lee Nin Kit will also play a legendary martial art figure in the film, but whether he will be the action director or not it remained uncertain. Fung Tak Lun said that in the film industry no one understood the Tai Chi spirit more than Lee Nin Kit and no one knew Tai Chi better than him. Thus he will respect Lee Nin Kit's martial art design suggestions. As for Stephen Chow Sing Chi's project of the same name, Fung's TAI CHI will start production and be released earlier than Chow Sing Chi's. However, Chow Sing Chi earlier registered the title in the Mainland so he still had the title exclusivity. Fung Tak Lun yesterday said that he was uncertain about Chow Sing Chi's new film plan or what his TAI CHI will be about. Huayi will work on the title. In addition, Huayi will start work on the Tom Lin Shu-Yu directed STARRY SKY, Doze Niu Chen-Zer directed LOVE and Pang Ho Cheung directed EVERYONE LOVES TENDER WOMAN.

Zhu Yuchen, Zhang Jingchu

courtesy of takungpao.com

Director Pang Ho Cheung's first film in the Mainland, 4+1 (4 represents four short films that are titled Four Night Strange Tales, 1 represents a major motion picture that will be released). After the Zhou Xun starred JI GAP DOH YUN MOR (NAIL CLIPPER HUMAN MONSTER), the Shawn Yue Man Lok starred WEDDING WAR (GEIN FUN DAI JOK JIN) and the Stanley Huang (Wong Lap Hung) starred FAKE ACT REAL CREATION (GA HEI JUNG JOK), the fourth, the Leste Chen (Chen Jing Doh) directed WHEN LOVE SPREADS ON MICRO BLOG (OI JOI MEI BOK MAN YIN SI) held its first media visit earlier. Leads Zhang Jingchu and Zhu Yuchen were trapped inside a small superstar storage room. Zhang Jingchu honestly said that making this short film has been very tough because most of it took place at night. In the 100 or so hours of production, Zhu Yuchen only slept for a dozen or so hours. While making this storage room scene, Zhang Jingchu suggested to the director to add a potato chip eating scene. Although the director agreed, when they happily prepared to eat potato chips they realized that the bag was expired.

In the short film, they played a couple who had less and less face to face exchange and interact more through their micro blog. Even when they fought they did so through their micro blog. In real life, Zhang Jingchu stated that she was dead set against doing so because with less face to face opportunities people would overlook a lot of details around them; in addition she would not write about fights on her micro blog because "shame at home cannot be spread outside". Zhu Yuchen stated that off camera he and Zhang Jingchu often exchanged micro blog experience.
Although he liked it very much, he would not put personal matter on the micro blog.

Director Pang Ho Cheung invades the Mainland. First he produced DEVIL NAIL CLIPPERS (JI GAP DOH YUN MOR), which starred Zhou Xun and Lawrence Chou Chun Wai. The 20 minute promotional short film was filled with suspense, comedy and romance. Zhou Xun returned to the throne of the dramatic film queen.

THE MESSAGE, CONFUCIUS, TRUE LEGEND (SO HAK YI).....Zhou Xun last year began to hand in her big screen answers, all were big productions. She also left her specialty of "city smart" image for awhile. In JI GAP DOH YUN MOR, Zhou Xun returned to her acting queen throne. After a series of characters in her performance career she added a monster who only eats nail clippers. Yet this "nail clipper human monster" is not only cute and smart but also shows her loving side. Her life however is only one secret after another. To her, eating nail clipper is the most interesting. Earlier she said that the prop nail clippers were made with carrot and chocolate. Because the nail clipper was very big, it was somewhat difficult to put into her mouth. The director used a very long lens to shoot Zhou Xun eating the nail clipper, which left people amazed and put her in a difficult place.

Zhou Xun starred in SEI YEH KEI TAM ji JI GAP DOH YUN MOR (FOUR NIGHT STRANGLE TALES: NAIL CLIPPER HUMAN MONSTER). Despite being absolutely from the acting school, she as usual did not relax. Before places she not only kept reading the script but also talked with the director many times. She occasionally would yawn a few times and her assistant would immediately hand her coffee. Although this short film took place in the modern times so Zhou Xun's costume was not as complicated as in a costume film, the time spent on make up took several hours.

Zhou Xun stated that since watching Pang Ho Cheung's first film YOU SHOOT I SHOOT (MAI HUNG PAK YUN) she liked his films very much. The romantic elements of his films would always move him. Zhou Xun said, "Even AV had a eye catching love story. When I received the script for JI, my first impression is the world is such a mess that I should leave some sunshine for others and myself." She described the film story as very special, with romance and suspense. She felt as mysterious as the women in Quentin Tarantino films.

Producer Pang Ho Cheung said that he completely followed his smart imagination to describe "Lee Hoi Yi" (the film's female lead). "Because she is mischievous, smart but also kind hearted, as soon as I saw Zhou Xun I thought she was the epitome of Lee Hoi Yi." As the producer, Pang Ho Cheung even visited the set late at night. However he and Zhou Xun did not talk long, they seemed to have become very familiar already.

Pang Ho Cheung after working with Shawn Yue Man Lok on LOVE ON A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU) planned to work together on the second short film GEIN FUN DAI JOK JIN (WEDDING WAR), which will soon start production. In it Yue Man Lok would play a rock singer.

[2010.09.21] ZHOU XUN REVEALS CHILDHOOD SCAR

courtesy of takungpao.com

Zhou Xun left Huayi and her first collaboration was with Hong Kong director Pang Ho Cheung, as she worked on the first suspense romance short film that he produced, SEI YEH KEI TAM ji JI GAP DOH YUN MOR (FOUR NIGHT STRANGE TALES: NAIL CLIPPER HUMAN MONSTER). Yesterday afternoon, the team shot in Beijing and held its first visit. Zhou Xun's costume in the film also appeared as well as the film's lead actor Lawrence Chou Chun Wai.

The team earlier released a still of Zhou Xun, as the "Nail Clipper Monster" she had a hair full of short hair and looked cute. Yesterday Zhou Xun was in great spirit and chatted with reporters about girl topics like dressing up and make up. She even stated that she had a dragonfly tattoo near the corner of her right eye for the film's trendy style. It came from a discussion with the designer. "Because I have a scar from falling when I was little, I have always had a dream. The opportunity was right that I can use this cute tattoo to hide the scar." Always stylish, she said that from now she could dress similarly in everyday life but she had to find great glue. "It can't just fall off after awhile."

Did she feel freer after leaving Huayi Brothers? Zhou Xun responded, "I don't feel that, I used to be just as free." She admitted, "Now to me is a new start, I can accept all types of attempt and not just in this circle." Now she has established her own workshop and become her own boss. Although she needed to take care and communicate a lot, Zhou Xun did not feel any bother at all. "Many colleagues have founded their own workshop, like Fan Bingbing, would she ask her for any advice?" Zhou Xun said, "This suggestion can work."

Lawence Cheng Tan Shui, Barbara Wong Chun Chun, Pang Ho Cheung, Joe Cheung Tung Cho, Chan Hing Ka and Derek Kwok Chi Kin yesterday attended a film professional training project 2010 forum. This year's theme was "Hong Kong produced movies rise again, Hong Kong film needs you". Ah Tan has attended many film production forums. He particularly valued screen writing talent education. Before yesterday's forum, he and Wong Chun Chun met with several just graduated new screen writers. He felt that film productions needed to march with the times. Thus he would communicate more with young people.
