The Wilson Yip Wai Shun directed, Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Wu Chun, Wu Jing, Karena Ng Chin Yu, Yan Ni, Tonny (Chung Ming) starred fantasy film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) has been slated for a December 1 release; the five male leads will play magicians of the five elements metal, wood, water, fire and earth.  Although Hong Kong rarely makes this film genre and its experience naturally cannot compare to that of Hollywood, Wu Chun, Wu Jing and Chung Ming said that they were not afraid of comparison.

Speaking of the difference between magic, professional magician Chung Ming, Wu Chun and Wu Jing explained that one required training and many props while the other was truly magical like a super power.  Thus the film had a lot of special effects, wire and computer generated effects.  It even had many scenes that required acting with air, which even Wu Jing said was a lot of fun.  For his first modern fantasy film Wu Chun also praised the feeling as very interesting and fun.  In particular Hollywood made more movies of this genre and Hong Kong less.  Was he worried about comparison?  He immediately said, "Of course we can't compare with Hollywood, but our director has many of his own ideas.  He can use a small budget to achieve the effects that he wants, which is something that may not be able to achieve overseas even with money."  Wu Jing pointed out that with more consideration the production could not be made.  Thus no one should think too much and should just make the film first. Since he was not dead yet, he still had opportunities.

Speaking of the production, the trio said that it had both pain and joy.  Wu Jing said that during storms and rain the location would be very dirty and hot.  However he was also very happy that this was the first time he did not get hurt from a fight scene.  Despite the fact that the director asked him to make over 100 flips and only used one, the result was well worth the effort.  Wu Chun pointed out that the most difficult was the numerous night scenes because he could not sleep during the day.  In addition in the film he had to play injured, playing fragile was rather difficult.  Wu Jing joked that he could help and beat him into a fragile state; as for joy, Wu Chun pointed out that although they came from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the collaboration was pleasant.  In particular with Chung Ming around, they could ask him to perform and teach magic tricks.  Chung Ming joked, "Everyone knows where my hardship lies, haha; actually everyday on the shoot has been very happy.  The tough part is when I am trapped inside a small and hot prop box.  Ordinarily this trick only took five to ten minutes, but for the shoot it took 30 minutes."  He also revealed that Wu Jing planned ahead.  Before he even started dating he already learned to make a wedding ring appear for the proposal.  Wu Chun learned card tricks but absolutely would not use them to get girls.  He joked that with Wu Chun's qualities he did not need to rely on them to be able to get girls.

Wu Chun, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Karena Ng Chin Yu, Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo, Raymond Wong Pak Ming and others two nights ago attended a charity premiere of MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) in Wan Chai.  They performed a magic show and received thunderous applause.

Goo Jai revealed that he was drunk in 90% of the film.  Did he truly drink?  He joked, "Of course it was tea, but I really had to drink for a (Johnnie) To Kei Fung movie.  At the time I had to finish an entire bottle of beer in one breath, after the shoot I was a little dizzy.  Luckily after that we were done."  Goo Jai said that he would decide how much to drink depending on his condition.  On an empty stomach he would be worse, but he would drink responsibly.  Speaking of Christmas, lately he has been flying around so much that he almost had no idea who he was or where he was.

Wu Chun in the film was invisible for awhile.  Did anyone crack up?  He said that a lot of comedy ensued.  Did he take the chance to study martial art with Wu Jing?  Wu Chun said, "No, but I has asked him to teach me.  I am very interested in martial arts."  Wu Chun had the most fans on hand, but his co-star Chan Ka Bo did not fall under his spell.  Instead she praised how seeing him meant free food.  Wu Chun joked, "Right!  I thank my fans for always buying food for me.  They would buy everyone's share as well.  Although it wasn't an everyday occurrence, there was a lot of food.  (You got them everywhere you went in the world?)  In Japan they did.  So I truly can't possibly starve to death."

Wu Chun, Karena Ng Chin Yu, Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo and others yesterday promoted their fantasy film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT).

Chin Yu ran into "Electric Eyes" Wu Chun in her first film.  Was she "electrocuted"?  Wu Chun chimed in and said that in the film he was electrocuted due to electricity leak so he was already out of juice.  Chin
Yu joked, "I wasn't electrocuted, maybe he really used up all the electricity!"  When asked whether Wu Chun lacked electricity because he was "married"?  He immediately joked that reporters could actually make a stretch to that topic and denied that he was married.

The film subject was magic.  Wu Chun through the film learned some card and coin tricks that he liked very much.  Later he will keep learning.  Would he use it to woo girls?  Wu Chun joked, "I don't have to, chasing girls require sincerity!"  Chin Yu also said that she liked to watch magic shows but magicians would not particularly win her over.  She also said that Wu Chun liked to study how the magic trick worked.  In addition, Wu Chun said that he still did not know whether he would have to work during Christmas.  If not he hoped to be able to spend more time with his family, since he spent so much time on making movies.  As for Christmas gifts, he said that he usually had to get belated gifts.  Speaking of Andy Lau Tak Wa and Deanie Ip Tak Han's Golden Horse Award victories, Wu Chun was happy for them both.

Fashion label Giorgio Armani's Central new store opening ceremony took place last night.  The event invited stars like Shu Qi, Rosamund Kwan Chi Lam, Chen Kun, Wu Chun, Kwai Lun-Mei, Patti Hou, Zhang Jingchu, Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Fala Chen and Moses Chan Ho.

Wu Chun today has to return to Beijing for SAVING GENERAL YANG (YEUNG GA JEUNG).  Recently he dubbed in Cantonese for the first time in another film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) but he worried that the audience would not understand.  He said that his Cantonese has improved.  He learned it on his own from watching Hong Kong film.  Recently working with Andy Lau Tak Wa on a film, Zhang Jingchu praised that Wa Jai was very handsome.  Wa Jai was rumored to be a father soon.  She asked with surprise, "Really?  I don't know.  Tomorrow I will congratulate him.  Maybe it's a joke!  If so then I will tell everyone.  (Has Chu Lai Sin visited the set?)  No."  Kwai Lun-Mei cut her hair short for a new film.  If the story required it, she would not mind shaving her head.

Shu Qi was rumored to be a Bond Girl but she said that she has not auditioned and no one contacted her.  She learned about everything from the media.  Would she accept if she was invited?  She joked, "Right now I really am not too interested.  I don't want to fight, leave it for someone else.  After over ten years I hope to rest a little, I don't want to lose the passion for film."  She said that for now she did not want to take another role.  She would like to stop for half a year or so.  Now she has finally turned down all offers and she felt much lighter.  Her boss had no opinion about her temporary break.  She joked, "The boss always treats me like a money tree, stopping for half a year doesn't matter!  (Would you enjoy life like Kwan Chi Lam?)  That's good too, if I have her financial abilities.  (Hasn't you made enough?)  If I only spend a little I will be able to have meal."  She said that for over ten years she has been busy with movies, she hoped to be able to have more personal space in the future.

[2011.11.16] WU JING IS AFRAID OF ACCIDENTALLY HITTING WU CHUN

In MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) the earth element magician Wu Chun and the fire element magician Wu Jing had a fight scene.  Known as the strongest on Earth, Wu Jing has always been known as an agile fighter.  Action scenes should be easy for him.  Yet running into Wu Chun he felt pressure.  Wu Jing joked, "Because Wu Chun is truly too handsome and has many fans, you know in fight scenes punches and kicks have no eyes.  If I wasn't careful and hit him, I was really afraid that his fans would scold me.  Actually I know Wu Chun before the shoot worked on several action films.  He has always been athletic so his reaction was very fast.  He is so big that I am afraid of him getting me!"

Wu Chun said, "Lord Jing can fight, everyone knows that.  I cannot possible fight him.  Before this scene I was very nervous, I practiced a few times with Lord Jing and the action director.  In this scene I had to jump between book shelves.  Since those book shelves moved I would fall to the ground with any misstep.  Thus it really was not easy at all.  I had to work on 'wires' and remember my marks, as well as the action and acting, this scene truly was very tough and took two full nights to finish."

With Raymond Wong Pak Ming's full support, new comer Karena Ng Chin Yu yesterday along with fellow new Happy Girls Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo, Kelena Poon Kit Ning, Renee Lee Man Ying and Katie Kwok Sin Hung promoted their new film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT).  Chin Yu praised co-star Wu Chun as a suitable boyfriend type.  "On my actual birthday I was promoting in Beijing with Wu Chun.  He was very friendly and very happy, which many girls like.  However I treat him like an older brother, any development is impossible."  She revealed that in the film she had many action scenes.  During a car crash scene she was injured but luckily she only bruised her arms and legs.  Chan Ka Bo praised Chin Yu who was in her first film as hard working and smart, and that the girls at work were filled with joy.

MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) yesterday held a press conference in Beijing.  The film's "Golden Couple" Wu Chun and Karena Ng Chin Yu held hands in attendance.  Their "youth" special and on the set interactive highlight were unveiled for the first time that day.  Working with Ng Chin Yu in the film, Wu Chun said that he had "quite an older brother feel" and even performed a "family reunion" with Ng Chin Yu.  Wu Chun said, "I have made so many movies, this is the first time the female lead is a new comer."  This film was also Ng Chin Yu's first film.  From the start she was able to work with Wu Chun.  Ng Chin yu said that she was very excited but also very nervous.  She said, "Wu Chun truly is very handsome and very good looking, When I first rehearsed with him I kept having a lot of pressure.  Later after working together for awhile I realized that he is very attentive."  Wu Chun thought that they hit it off during the collaboration and even said that Ng Chin Yu gave him "quite a feeling of being an older brother".  At the press conference Wu Chun not only performed "strange" expressions with Ng Chin Yu from the movie but also had a "family reunion".  "I have always wanted a little sister like her."

For "Magic New Star" Ng Chin Yu, the "Golden Couple" press conference had special meaning.  When she performed in MAGIC TO WIN as the "top female new comer", she was still a 17 year old girl.  The MAGIC TO WIN press conference took place on October 26, the final day before Ng Chin Yu turned 18.  On October 27 Ng Chin Yu officially would become an "adult".  Wu Chun gave her a book "Self Study Guide For Actors" and wished Ng Chin Yu would become an artist with both "grace and art".
