[2012.03.12] ELANNE KONG HOPES HER PERFORMANCE CAN TOUCH VIEWERS

courtesy of takungpao.com

Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and director Herman Yau Lai To yesterday attended a forum with their film LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) advanced screening viewers.  The film opened earlier in the Mainland, but Elanne did not see the film because To Man Jat asked her to wait and watch at the Hong Kong premiere together.  Even though she did not see the film yet, she had the director on hand and were still able to share production
highlight with the audience.

The film is released now, half a year after its completion, and ran into strong competition from A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH).  Elaine said, "That's good too.  They are doing great at the box office, Hong Kong films are films that need love, hopefully everyone will spread the word.  After our film's Mainland release, everyday many posted on Ah Jat's and my microblog to say it was so touching that they cried from watching it."  Elaine also said that viewers at the Mainland premiere were teary eyed.  A woman said that she normally did not treat her husband too well, after watching the movie she wanted to treat him better as she learned to
cherish those in front of her.  This time she gained weight to play the weightlifter and was injured as well, would she like to win an award for her enormous sacrifices?  She said about her first heart warming film, "I only hope that viewers would be moved to tears."

SPOILER! [2012.03.11] ELANNE KONG AND CHAPMAN TO TURN PROMOTION INTO MATCHMAKING

courtesy of takungpao.com

Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and Chapman To Man Jat lately have been promoting their new film LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) in Zhanjiang, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.  While in Zhanjiang, they did not forget to enjoy the local delicacy as they were invited to an elegant restaurant for seafood and red wine.  Because Ah Jat was a vegetarian, Elanne took care of most of the seafood.  Yet afterward she felt very guilty.  Because
earlier she gained weight for the film, now she returned to form without her share of difficulty she truly was very afraid that she would gain weight again.

At an audience meeting, a viewer praised Ah Jat's final scene was very shocking and touching.  Elanne joked, "It's good that To Man Jat dies!" and made everyone laugh.  As for Elanne's weightlifting athlete, was she worried that the character would affect her pretty image?  She said, "I have made several movies, I feel this is my prettiest one."  When they were in Shenzhen their on screen son also appeared and loudly called them Papa and Mama, which touched Elanne so much that she felt like she saw her own son again.  The love in the film touched a viewer so much that he immediately made his feeling known to the object of his affection, which made Ah Jat and Elanne matchmakers instantly.

[2012.03.10] ELANNE KONG WANTS TO MARRY A TO STYLE MAN

courtesy of takungpao.com

Last night, Chapmant TO Man Jat and Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam personally promoted their film LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) in Shenzhen.  Director Herman Yau Lai To this time switched To Man Jat and Kong Yeuk Lam's gender roles, so To Man Jat became an "all purpose husband" who has fallen for love and family.  Director Yau said that that he attempted this type of romantic film for the first time in hopes of calling out the "house husband" instinct that was hidden within men.  This film also was a true story that deeply touched Director Yau.  Meanwhile, a chubby Hong Kong fan came from Hong Kong and hoped to take the chance with the help of two stars to express his love to the girl he liked.  Regrettably the girl turned him down.

To Man Jat admitted that he like in the film was a "house husband" at home so he performed true to his nature.  He said, "Because of my family, since fifth grade I began to cook.  Now I can cook very well.  As for cuisine, my wife and I are both vegetarians.  However I truly can't forget a Yunnan restaurant in Xiangmihu, its food's too delicious."  To Man Jat joked, "I am not good looking, but I treat my family very well.  I take care of all the chores.  With the old lady's steady income if we save here and there it's enough."  Kong Yeuk Lam bashfully said that she too hoped to be able to run into a good men like To, who would treat her and her family well.  Ordinary love was what she longed for the most.

Playing the strong woman in the film, Kong Yeuk Lam cut her beloved long hair and even gained weight in a short time.  Due to all the eating she felt nauseous.  For the later weight loss, Kong Yeuk Lam said it was very easy.  She revealed to the ladies that actually maintaining weight was controlling food combinations, reducing greasy food and not eating after 6PM.

To Man Jat even said that he was someone without a dream and needed to follow the dreamer (the director).  Under his old lady's "super economical person" management he had much less pressure.  He said, now he only wants to be a good actor and has an open mind.  However he would not bring any emotional color to complete the character's image in the script.  As a producer, he said, "If I can help someone else, fulfill someone else's dream, I would."

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and Chapman To Man Jat starred new film LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) will be released at the end of the month.  In the film Kong Yeuk Lam played a weightlifting athlete.  Earlier Kong Yeuk Lam said that she reached 120 pounds for this character.  Now she has already returned to her previous shape.  How did she gain weight?  She said, "At the time I ate everything and drank weight gaining powder.  I almost wanted to vomit because I couldn't take the milk smell."  Elanne in the film had to gain weight.  Ah Jat instead had to lose 30 pounds.  They joked that if they could switch then it would have been great.

Elanne in the film had the challenge of lifting 30 kilograms and she had to lose weight.  She admitted that at the time with the endless kneeling down and getting up to lift weight she was injured.  However she had a lot of fun at the production.  As for emotionally, because it was a tragic film and during the shoot she was fat and had short hair she seemed to have changed completely.  At the time she did not dare to go out and look at the mirror.  Was this movie the toughest of her career?  Elanne admitted that she had stress but the character was not easy to play due to the ending.

Ah Jat in one scene was crushed over a car.  Because she was a weightlifter she kept trying to lift the car to save him, but he had to hold back his tears.  He said, "When I made a series with Tse Shuet Sum, in another life and death scene Sister Sum had to play dead.  I couldn't hold back my tears.  Finally it had to be shot again. Since then, in order to keep from affecting the shoot and co-stars I would try to hold back my tears."

[2012.03.06] CHAPMAN TO SERVES HIS WIFE LIKE A BOSS

courtesy of on.cc
courtesy of takungpao.com

The Chapman To Man Jat and Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam starred LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) will be released on March 8, Women's Day, in the Mainland.  Yesterday they attended a Beijing press conference.  The event even prepared a certificate for Ah Jat to commend his perfect performance as a husband in the film.

Ah Jat praised this film as a rare script with sincerity in recent years.  "Although many viewers may laugh as soon as they see me, but to me this movie has moved me more."  Elanne pointed out that Ah Jat in real life treats his wife very well, as he makes coffee for her every morning.  Ah Jat even shared his "good man secret" of treating his wife like his boss.  "You would never argue with your boss."  He felt that harmony was the most important between a couple.  Someone had to take the blame and usually he would.  When his wife was unhappy then he was unhappy.

The film's Hong Kong film release will be March 22 with advanced screenings.  Elanne's line in the film was the most memorable to Ah Jat.  "I used to lift weights for myself, now it's for my husband."  At the time Ah Jat watched the film with his wife, who was moved to tears.  Elanne said that the challenge that the film provided her was not just gaining weight or weightlifting, but also the crying scene in which director Herman Yau Lai To did not design his lines for her.  He said that the camera was there, she could say whatever she wanted.  For one of the crying scenes, many of the workers around Elanne were shedding tears.  She said, "The director left right away.  Then the next day he told me, he at the time could not help but cry either."

courtesy of takungpao.com

Chapman To Man Jat and Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam yesterday promoted their film LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) in Mongkok and prepared heat pads for people.  Ah Jat said that in recent months he had several film releases, MR. AND MRS. GAMBLER (LAN DOH FU YU LAN DOH CHAI), MARRYING MR. PERFECT (GA GOR YUT BAK FUN NAM YUN) and LOVE LIFTING.  Luckily they were scheduled for different release dates as he did not want any "battle with himself".  He admitted that a good market would make Hong Kong films thrive.  With the recent Mr and Mrs. Henry Tang Ying Yen illegal construction controversy's poster fever his film had decent reaction.  He said, "Thank you everyone for your support.  This film has truly performed decently at the box office, which I feel more or less has to do with this.  At least the incident put everyone in a bad mood, when they go to the movies they would watch comedy to relax.  However of course I hope the film industry won't need too many similar incidents for support!"

[2012.02.21] ELANNE KONG: NOT MY PROBLEM

courtesy of on.cc
courtesy of takungpao.com

Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam yesterday revealed on a radio interview that she just returned from promoting her film THE WEDDING DIARY in Malaysia and Singapore.  Speaking of her co-star Aniu's divorce, she learned a little about it.  Of course Aniu was a little upset but she believed he would be able to handle it.  Elanne said that in the film she had many bed scenes with Aniu; did they anger Aniu's former wife and lead to the divorce?  Elanne immediately clarified and said that she did not supervise on the set.  Their divorce absolutely had nothing to do with her.

Meanwhile, the Kong Yeuk Lam, Aniu, Best Actress Wai Ying Hung starred THE WEDDING DIARY's first week box office exceeded 2 million ringgit and became the champion in Malaysia.  Kong Yeuk Lam personally went to Kuala Lumpur for audience appreciation and celebration with Aniu and other actors.  The director even agreed that if the box office reached 6 million ringgit he will make a sequel with the original team.

Kong Yeuk Lam was excited about the success of her first film in Singapore and Malaysia and said that this was a good start.  Later she would like more chances to make Singapore and Malaysia movies.  This film was also the happiest one that she has worked on.  She joked that she even thought of the sequel subject already, a movie about her and Aniu having a child called THE PARENTHOOD DIARY.

During the promotion, Aniu publicly flirted with Kong Yeuk Lam and praised this on screen wife and beauty.  He even joked about his bed scenes with Kong Yeuk Lam.  Aniu even said that if the box office reached 6 million ringgit, the director would be topless in the city.  He would remove his pants to thank the audience for its support.

[2012.02.18] ELANNE KONG FALLS IN ICE CITY

courtesy of takungpao.com

Earlier Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam for her first LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) attended a Harbin Ice and Snow Film Festival press conference with director Herman Yau Lai To and Chapman To Man Jat.  That day Harbin's temperature was 17 degrees Celsius below zero.  Kong Yeuk Lam had no fear of the chill and visited Harbin's World of Ice, all the structures of which were made from ice.  With the lights at night the scene was very pretty.  Many artists who attended the Ice and Snow Film Festival took the chance to visit.

World of Ice also had an ice slide, which Kong Yeuk Lam wanted to try.  The cold however put a layer of ice on its surface and made it very slippery, even for Kong Yeuk Lam with her stable footing from her weightlifting training.  She slipped several times before she got to the slide.  Director Yau Lai To jokingly called her "clumsy".  Kong Yeuk Lam said, "The World of Ice is very pretty, but the floor was really slippy.  I fell several times and my butt hurt!"

Elanna Kong Yeuk Lam in the Herman Yau Lai To directed new film GO GUI OI CHING (HIGH LIFT LOVE) played a weightlifter.  In order to coordinate with the weightlifting athlete image, Elanne gained weight and everyday practiced weightlifting for three hours.  For the ideal result, even after the shoot she did not dare to rest at home as she continued to keep eating and doing push ups.

In one scene Elanne participated in a weightlifting contest and needed to truly lift up 30 kilogram weights.  Before the shoot the director asked her many times whether she was confident that she would succeed.  She said, "All the tough training is for this scene to be realistically made, in addition during practice I was able to lift it successfully."  Yet during the official shoot, when she lifted up the weight her arms had no strength to support it, her hands loosen and the weight dropped on her back, putting her entire body on the ground.

After the fact she was still frightened.  "When I fell on the floor I screamed.  The director and the crew were very nervous.  Everyone ran over but didn't dare to move me.  The director immediately called for an ambulance but I felt I could still move.  So I told them to let me rest for a while before deciding."  However the director was still worried and decided to halt production, demanding her to go to the hospital to be examined.  Luckily she only injured her muscles and not her spine.  Thus Elanne quickly put on bandage, took some pain medication and returned to the set to continue the shoot.  She believed that this was the most painful film production experience in her career.

SUMMER LOVE (LUEN HA LUEN HA LUEN LUEN HA) premiere took place two nights ago. Attendees included Alex Fong Lik Sun, Owodog, Terence Siufey, Elanne Kong Yuek Lam, Zhang Xinyu, Carol Yeung Chi Yiu, William So Wing Hong and others.

A buddy of Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, So Wing Hong said that he has not caught up with the latest about Ting Fung's divorce. Yet earlier he saw how great Pak Chi looked as she modeled at a Gucci event. "Only with an end would there be a new beginning. They can return to their post and fight on. They aren't 31 yet, their lives aren't even half over." As for their announcement of joint custody of their children, he happily said, "If it's true then that's extremely great news. Everyone are very concerned with this issue. Joint custody is good and is also an extension of Lai Goo and Sei Gor (Deborah Li and
Patrick Tse Yin). I believe that Ting Fung and Pak Chi in the future will be good friends." He said that he would wait until they settled down before looking for them. Ting Fung was working with Dicky Cheung Wai Kin anyway. Pak Chi was very hard to find, they could only be friends at heart.

Kong Yuek Lam once was linked in rumors with Law Chung Him a long time ago. She said, "Law Chung Him and I have no contact. I won't talk too much about other people's affairs." Reports claimed that Law Chung Him was unfaithful and saw four girls at once. She thought that could not just be based on the surface. Law Chung Him was rumored to have hit Theresa Fu Wing. Kong Yuek Lam said, "Using the mouth to speak is better than using the fist." As for Fu Wing publicly criticizing Law Chung Him, she spoke on behalf of Fu Wing. "Maybe Fu Wing suffered a very deep romantic wound." As for the company scolding and suspending Fu Wing, Kong Yuek Lam said, "After awhile she should be fine. Personal matter should be settled personally."

Accused of being the third party with Law Chung Him, Yeung Chi Yiu stressed that she was not. "Not my problem." Law Chung Him was also linked to a former Miss Hong Kong candidate. Carol said, "I won't comment on other people's affairs. Law Chung Him and I have no personal contact. He never pursued me. We rarely chat, at most he taught me how to act." Did Law Chung Him have many girls around him on the set? Carol said, "Good looking guys of course have more people who like them, but I don't know for certain. My boyfriend doesn't have to be handsome." Liu Yuqi who had a part in THE LION ROARS 2 (HOR DUNG SI HAU 2) said that Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi looked great on the set.
