Irene Wan Bik Ha, William Chan Wai Ting, Michelle Wai (Si Nga), Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Patrick Tam Yiu Man and others yesterday attended their new film JAT JIK (PROMOTION) production start ceremony.  Irene said that in the film she will play the big sister of Wise Guys for the first time in the film.  She revealed that she has been bad when she was young, but after getting into the business she ended this type of life.  Luckily she did not take any misstep.  Now she would take care of her adopted son so he would not turn bad.

Chan Wai Ting and Si Nga again will play a couple after EX (CHIN DOH).  They also will have bed scenes, but Si Nga revealed that since she did one before she was not afraid.  She did not want to make this type of scenes too much, luckily the director was understanding and removed the rape scene.  Chan Wai Ting in the film kept fighting and killing.  He said that earlier the director even took him to dine with people in the mob to gain experience.  He continued, "I will have tattoos all over, one of which will look like Si Nga.  (Will he get a tattoo with your girlfriend Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin?)  No!  Now I regret getting a tattoo very much because it affects work a lot."  He hoped that everyone would focus on his work and decided to talk like about her.

Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Margie Tsang Wa Sin, Christine Kuo, Samantha Ko Hoi Ning and Sire Ma Choi yesterday taped a TVB program.  Chi Wai said that he just finished the Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG 2012 (2012 NGOR OI HEUNG GONG ji HEI SEUNG GA HEI).  He said that 2012 would be another war of words between him and Raymond Wong Pak Ming.  He said that he knew the other cast was very strong and he hoped that everyone would be a hit at the box office.  Speaking of Taiwan film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE breaking Stephen Chow Sing Chi's KUNG FU HUSTLE box office record to be Hong Kong's top Chinese film.  Chi Wai said, "I too hope Hong Kong will be able to catch up.  The success of YOU had many different elements.  This was a dark horse that no one would have guessed.  In 2012 the Mainland would have LOVE IS NOT BLIND, which made 300 to 400 million RMB at the box office.  The production cost only 6 million, which proved that super large investment was not required to be successful."

Chi Wai said that after YOU and LOVE IS NOT BLIND, the third successful film should be a Hong Kong film.  Speaking of Chi Wai's son Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung's earlier production LOVER'S DISCOURSE only had an average box office performance, Chi Wai said that he would let his son start slowly.  He said in 2012 he would encourage new directors to make movies.  He also planned to invest on creative new directors.

[2011.01.28] ERIC TSANG BIDS A TEARFUL FAREWELL TO HIS FATHER

courtesy of takungpao.com

Eric Tsang Chi Wai's father Tsang Kai Wing passed away in Taiwan on January 17 at the age of 94. Yesterday Chi Wai held a funeral for his father. Dressed in black Chi Wai looked sadden throughout. When he thought of his aging father he even broke down in tears. He also thanked everyone for their concern. As for his father's ashes, he planned to transport it to Hong Kong for burial.

Tsang Chi Wai's father in the middle of the month was hospitalized. At the time Chi Wai dropped all of his work and even resigned as the host of TVB JADE SOLID GOLD host to rush to Taiwan. Yet Father Tsang passed away in Taiwan last Monday. Originally Chi Wai was promoting his Lunar New Year film I LOVE HK HOI SUM MAN SHUI in Singapore, but he immediately dropped everything to return to Taiwan and see his father one last time. He also temporarily stopped all the jobs on his hand.

Yesterday morning, Tsang Chi Wai conducted the cremating ceremony in Taipei Second Funeral Home. Chi Wai along with sons Tsang Kwok Yau, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, daughter Tsang Bo Yi, family and friends arrived at the funeral home. Chi Wai looked sadden throughout. In response to reporter questions he only simply said "Thank you for caring". Two friends and relatives helped him along, conceivably Chi Wai's mood has not yet settled. During the ceremony Chi Wai thought of his father and broke down. Tsang Kwok Cheung and Tsang Bo Yi kept their hands together throughout to send their grandfather on his final journey. After the ceremony, granddaughter Bo Yi carried her grandfather's photo and left.

Tsang Chi Wai's father Tsang Kai Wing immigrated to Taiwan years ago and lived there for over 30 years. Chi Wai said, later he would transport his father's ashes to Hong Kong for burial. Chi Wai earlier revealed that a memorial will be held in Hong Kong after the Lunar New Year.

courtesy of takungpao.com

LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) was released on January 6 and the response has been enthusiastic. First time directors Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung and Jimmy Wan Chi Man have been showing viewer appreciation since the Thursday opening. Actress Kay Tse On Kay also took time to join them on Sunday.

Tse On Kay said, "Actually the local film industry needs new blood very much. Tsang Kwok Cheung and Wan Chi Man spent a lot of effort and time to be able to complete this film, everyone can see the result. So I very gladly support their first full length feature physically." During the events, many viewers spoke up. Tse On Kay's part was the funny. Viewers thought Eddie Peng Yu-Yan's substitute was a stroke of genius. Some viewers even asked Tse On Kay the feeling of acting with a doll. She answered, "It's very hard!" She pointed out that the doll was not as soft as the human body, so it was very hard to hold. "Yet I gradually got used to it. I truly treated him like the object of a crush and injected real emotions. I even gave him my first on screen kiss!" Most viewers liked Tse On Kay with her numerous costumes acting with Peng Yu-Yan's substitute. They did not expect her to perform so well. Kay said, "In school I had a crush on a classmate! I have experience!"

Directors Tsang Kwok Cheung and Wan Chi Man thanked audiences for four days in a row, to hear encouragements from the mouth of the audience directly. They even ran into secondary school students. It is a small world after all!

courtesy of mingpao.com

The Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung directed film LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) two nights ago held a premiere. One of the actresses who is currently focused on taking care of her daughter Kayla in Vancouver, Karena Lam Ka Yun through recording stated that she could not return to Hong Kong for premiere. She regretted that she was unable to witness the birth of this film baby. She even said see you later, proving acting was still on her mind.

During the premiere, Kay Tse On Kay and Eason Chan Yik Shun who were linked in rumors were very awkward on the same stage. Kay dodged as soon as she saw Eason came close and refused to be interviewed with Eason; later she was only willing to pose with him for pictures at the urging of the media. However she still was somewhat stiff. Did Eason feel Kay mind being interviewed with him? Eason said, "She is overthinking it, I don't mind!" Was Kay avoiding him? He immediately turned around and loudly asked Kay who was doing an electronic media interview, "Are you avoiding me?" Kay was surprised and jumped as she did not know how to
respond. Eason said, "She is doing an interview. Don't mess with her, she is scared to death."

Did he feel sorry that Lam Ka Yun could not attend the Hong Kong premiere? Eason said, "How can she be willing to put down the baby! She gets disturbed if she returns to Hong Kong. The air is better overseas and is a little better to the child. If it was me, I wouldn't come back either. Being a mommy is great."

Another star Eddie Peng Yu-Yan could not attend either and the event put a mannequin in his place. When Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Chan Yik Shun leaned on it, its arm broke off. Eason jokingly asked the PR to immediately take the mannequin to the emergency room.

Jacky Heung Jor and William Chan Wai Ting looked so similar that even Mrs. Charles Heung Wa Keung said that she mistook William for her son. Two nights ago they attended the premiere and even they thought they looked similar, the most was the eyebrows and corners of their eyes. However Heung Jor clarified that Mrs. Heung did not mistake William for him. How could a mother mistake her own son?

William said that the first time he saw Heung Jor he truly was somewhat taken back. He said, "In the film he played a younger Heung Jor. Because we looked similar, he really felt like a brother." Heung Jor felt like William was a relative. Although they did not meet often, they got
along well; William also said that the feeling was curious. When asked why they did not attend with their girlfriends, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Race? Heung Jor said work was work, they did not need to attend together. William followed, "Work is work, I listen to my brother."

William revealed that his character had an oedipal complex. "In it I have a crush of Chan Ka Lok's Mommy. At first I thought it was somewhat deranged, so I talked with Director Tsang Kwok Cheung about how to grasp this character. We talked to the point where we had arguments. Actually Tsang Kwok Cheung projected his childhood into this character. I saw how honest he was so I could only accept it."

Chan Ka Lok revealed that in the film he and William had a special relationship. "In one scene I had to leave Hong Kong. I wanted to test whether he had any feeling for me, but I had to keep smoking to pretend I didn't care. Finally I had 30 cigarettes, I really smoked until I puked." Si Nga also came to support the film. "They told me about the shoot. I have worked with the director before so I really want to see it!"

[2010.12.30] WILLIAM CHAN AND JACKY HEUNG LOOK TOO SIMILIAR

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) will be released next week. William Chan Wai Ting and Jacky Heung Jor played the same character in the film. They looked very similar in the film. During the shoot even Mrs. Heung who visited the set almost could not tell which one was her son.

Director Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung said that as early as when the script was being written, he already had Chan Wai Ting and Heung Jor in mind. He said, "This story was 12 years apart, we thought that it had to be convincing for the audience." Although Chan Wai Ting and Heung Jor did not have any scene together, during the shoot when Chan Wai Ting was meeting Kit Chan Kit Yi Heung Jor visited the set in his costume. During break they sat across from each other and they looked like Photoshop clones; at the request of the crew, Chan Wai Ting and Heung Jor posed for many photos. After looking at them, they too thought they resembled each other a lot as if they were long lost twins.

Tsang Kwok Cheung said, "Once Mrs. Heung visited the set. On the way out she quietly said to me that Chan Wai Ting looked just like Heung Jor. She couldn't tell which one was her own son!"

[2010.12.16] WILLIAM CHAN EXPOSES DEREK TSANG'S OEDIPAL COMPLEX

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Jimmy Wan Chi Man written and directed film LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) consisted of four connected stories about modern city young people's different approach to love. William Chan Wai Ting in the film played a quiet student who often ate and watched sports at his classmate's home, in turn falling for his mother (Kit Chan Kit Yi). Speaking of constantly playing characters who fall for older women and his relationship with Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Chan Wai Ting gave the impression of "telling his own story". He explained that the film was made at the end of 2008. He remembered the personal experience that Tsang Kwok Cheung told him. Cheung Kwok Cheung admitted that during research he discovered many men had an oedipal complex. Thus he decided to put his own experience on the big screen.

Tsang Kwok Cheung said, "In school I often went to a certain classmate's home. His mother was very pretty and tasteful. Every time I went I would be very nervous and secretly paid attention to her every move. I was afraid that others would find out." This crush finally ended, but Tsang Kwok Cheung added that in real life he absolutely would not be as daring as Chan Wai Ting. He would only have some fantasy in his mind.

courtesy of takungpao.com

Producer Pang Ho Cheung, directors Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Jimmy Wan Chi Man, Leste Chen and stars Zhou Xun and Shawn Yue Man Lok attended.

Many people in show business have already become microblog fans. Pang Ho Cheung and Yue Man Lok would update almost everyday and had many fans. Zhou Xun however did not start one with her own name. Earlier "Nail File Demon Lee Hoi Yi" was her, but Zhou Xun said, "I don't have any microblog." and avoided the sensitive subject.

Yue Man Lok who has always given people impression of being a little dull actually had quite a tolerance for alcohol on the set. Leste Chen said, "Our leads during the shoot had something in common, we would drink even during the shoot." When the Zhou Xun starred NAIL FILE DEMON was about to wrap, everyone thought it was very successful. Thus the WAR OF LIES team and the NAIL FILE DEMON team got together and drank to celebrate.

Speaking of a nail file swallowing scene, she said, "Even if it was real, it would have already gradually melted away in my stomach." Lok Jai that his first internet film was very fresh. He said, "Because I haven't made one before, I once suspected whether anyone would watch.
Later I realize how strong the internet truly is. I also realize that actually I haven't watched television in a long time."

[2010.12.02] MAVIS FAN'S MOTHER SINGS HER NEW FILM THEME SONG

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Jimmy Wan Chi Man written and directed LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) will be released next year. The film starred Eason Chan Yik Shun, Kay Tse On Kay, Mavis Fan Hiu Huen, Eddie Peng Yu-yen, William Chan Wai Ting, Kit Chan Kit Yi and others. They all gladly offered to sing the theme song. Finally Fan Hiu Huen's mother DD Lin ended up performing HAVE A GOOD LIFE!

Having known Tsang Kwok Cheung for 11 years, Fan Hiu Huen volunteered to write the music and lyrics of HAVE A GOOD LIFE. Logically she would be the most likely singer, but she said, "I am an actor in the film, if I turn back into a singer and sing the theme song my identity would be very awkward and confuse viewers." Finally Fan Hiu Huen recommended her mother DD Lin. Both directors were in disbelief? "Huh? Ma Huen?"

Actually Ma Huen was a famous pub singer early on and had a lot of experience. Director Tsang Kwok Cheung recalled, "At the time we were half suspicious, but Huen Huen was very confident that Ma Huen was the best choice. She told us to listen to her demo then decide."

courtesy of takungpao.com

New film LOVER's DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) directors and writers Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung and Jimmy Wan Chi Man yesterday appeared on a RoadShow program and shared their experience as their new film competed in the 15th Pusan Film Festival for the New Wave award.

The cast included Karena Lam Ka Yun, Eason Chan Yik Shun, Mavis Fan Hiu Huen, Kay Tse On Kay, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and others. Tsang Kwok Cheung said that before the production started, actors already asked him to save a role for them. Chan Yik Shun was one of those who raised his hand and asked. He also revealed that Lam Ka Yun and Chan Yik Shun were very excited about the chance to work with each other. After years in the business, they have never worked together.

As for Tse On Kay and Chan Yik Shun being in the same film, Tsang Kwok Cheung said, "Before they were linked in gossip we have already asked Tse On Kay to perform. After our impression and text message strategy, we also worked on her husband Louis Cheung Kai Chung who had a stage background. After Cheung Kai Chung read the script, our sincerity finally enabled the collaboration. Later Tse On Kay indeed considered it for awhile due to the gossip. Because their parts were different they did not meet in the film."

[2010.11.23] LAM KA TUNG DECLINES TO COMMENT ON THE GOLDEN HORSE RESULTS

courtesy of takungpao.com

Lam Ka Tung yesterday attended a Metro radio interview. Ka Tung's film GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) received a Golden Horse nomination. Ka Tung said that he attended the event earlier. Since it was the nomination he had to attend. This time was also an experience.

Speaking of this year's Golden Horse Award controversy due to most of the awards going to Taiwan films, Ka Tung said, "Are you asking me if it was fair or not? I didn't watch all the movies, I can't say whether it was right or not. Every place has its own judging standard, respect is the most important." He honestly said that this time the winners were somewhat surprised. He agreed with Hou Hsiao-Hsien's comment that Taiwan needed stars. He also praised that Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) had change in his character interpretation and great improvement. Speaking of Eric Tsang Chi Wai's son Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung losing the Best New Director award, Ka Tung pointed out that Chi Wai was able to be with his children (Tsang Kwok Cheung and Tsang Bo Yi) and the scene was already very exciting.

Yet BODYGUARDS director Teddy Chan Tak Sum attended. He thought that despite only winning the Best Makeup & Costume Design award, he thought that the 9 nominations were already enough.

Chan Tak Sum said, "Awards are hard to say, it's not like you want it you get it. (Was Ting Fung nervous?) Like me it was nothing special, although we won just one award, the support of so many friends already made me very happy. (Did you console Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung?) We were both nominated but didn't win, film is for the audience and work, how can we have both."

The 47th Golden Horse Award took place last night. At 6PM guests and artists gradually arrived on the red carpet. Although this year many female stars were present, they all dressed conservatively and the hunks Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung stole their thunder. MONGA Best Actor nominee Yuen King Tin wore a black tuxedo and arrived with MONGA producer Lee Lieh and composer Sandee Chen. Siu Tin's appearance immediately led to cheers. How did Siu Tin feel about his chances against three experienced actors in competition? He said, "I don't have any pressure. When I should be nervous, I was already nervous during the shoot. I am at peace." The other hunk Tse Ting Fung arrived with the BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS team. Ting Fung wore a suit and sunglasses, with his hands in his pant pockets he appeared in his usual unconventional manner. Cheer immediately arose. When guest performers Alan Tam Wing Lun and Mr. arrived, fans immediately raised light boards to support Alan. Guest presenters Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Jam Hsiao (Siu King Tung) appeared together. His son Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, daughter Tsang Bo Yi followed tightly. Tony Leung Ka Fai and Wai Ying Hung walked the red carpet hand in hand. Siu Hung wore a purple evening gown.

Most female artists were dressed conservatively. Singing a duet with Alan, Elva Hsiao (Siu Ah Hin) appeared in a low cut black dress and looked like a mermaid. She even shook hands with fans. Vivian Hsu (Tsui Yeuk Suen) wore a low cut almond v neck evening gown. Then the film
JULIETS team arrived. Li Bingbing and Nick Cheung Ka Fai arrived. Bingbing wore sequenced light blue evening gown and looked elegant. Lin Chiling arrived in a black evening gown but was conservative. [2010.08.21] ERIC TSANG AND HIS COUSIN HAVE A DECENT CONVERSATION

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Ma Si Hung and Lam Yi Lok host A DECENT CONVERSATION (YI SI SEUNG JUI) invited Eric Tsang Chi Wan and son Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung to be guests together for the first time. Although Chi Wai and his children work in show business, they rarely appear together. This was an understanding between Chi Tan and his children, as they were afraid that other would say his children would able to survive in the business due to their father.

This time Chi Wai made the exception because of his cousin Ma Si Hung's invitation. Professor Ma stated, "It's not because he is a famous actor. Even if today's Chi Wai is an unknown, I still have to do it. We grew up together, Uncle (Chi Wai's father) treated me very well. Without Uncle I wouldn't be here today. I hope to be on a program with Chi Wai so Uncle would be able to see it in his life. This is my dream." Professor Ma choked up as he told the reason.

On the program, Tsang Kwok Cheung revealed a photo of his father Chi Wai in his 20s. Actually they looked very similar. Chi Wai said that although his son looked like him, he was different with his girlfriend. Chi Wai said, "I always tell him to be like me and meet a woman who is as forgiving as his mother, but he meets some unforgiving ones."

Chi Wai said that he never wanted his children to be in show business. Later he was willing to let Kwok Cheung because he knew he was truly interested in film art. Chi Wai said, "At the time I didn't know whether he truly liked film or wanted to be a star. Later he proved that he had a real interest in art. Even when he decided to work off camera I felt more secure. Now I have turned from feeling secured to worrying because all his films are non mainstream art films."

Josie Ho Chiu Yi's first film investment DREAM HOME (VICTORIA I) was also on display in Cannes. Wing Shya shot the poster in which Chiu Yi, Juno Mak Chun Lung, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, and two nude women lying on a garbage dump. In addition, the Mainland film HUA MULAN will also appear at the Cannes Film Festival. Leads Chen Kun and Vicki Zhao Wei ysterday arrived in Cannes to attend the Saturday press conference.
