[2011.07.21] SANDRA NG LONGS TO WORK WITH LAU CHING WAN

courtesy of on.cc

courtesy of takungpao.com

Sandra Ng Kwan Yu yesterday appeared at Madame Tussaud's Hong Kong to unveil McDull and Mrs. Mak's wax figures. Also attending were Alice Mak Ka Bik and Travel Development Council chair Michael Tien. Even McDull has its own wax figure, when will she get hers? Kwan Yu said soon as they were in negotiation? What image would she like to appear as? Kwan Yu felt that she has made so many movies, just one image representation would be too narrow; would she like to make a wax figure with Peter Chan Ho Sun? Kwan Yu joked, "If we split then what?"

Kwan Yu revealed that right now many scripts were in negotiation. If confirmed the soonest would begin work in September. She is not only selective with scripts but also pays attention to co-stars. Who would she like to work with? Kwan Yu honestly said after such a long time in film she has worked with many people except one. "He is Lau Ching Wan. Since we left the training class we have never worked together. Although we both have made comedy films, I don't know if he wants to avoid me. Maybe he leaves as soon as he hears my name!" What about playing a couple with Ching Wan? Kwan Yu said that would work except that they were up there in age.

Speaking of rumors that Raymond Wong Pak Ming would like to make the Lunar New Year film EIGHT HAPPINESS 2012 (BAK SING PO HEI) with the original team of ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI) except the negative news ridden Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi. Kwan Yu said that she was uncertain. Has Wong Pak Ming contacted her? Kwan Yu joked, "Now Yan Ni is enough for me, he minds me and has to give up the cheap stuff. My mission has been accomplished."

[2011.07.19] RAYMOND WONG CONTINUES HIS CLASSIC WITH MAGIC

The Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced, Wilson Yip Wai Shun directed new film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) two nights ago shot a highly difficult wire action scene with Wu Jing in the old amusement park set in the studio. Also on hand were Mainland magician Tonny Jan. While waiting for his shoot he even performed magic for Wu Jing and Wong Pak Ming.

Wong Pak Ming said that MAGIC cost US$10 million, a continuation of HAPPY GHOST (HOI SUM GWAI) which had over 20 years of history. He said. "Many people ask me to make a continuation of HAPPY GHOST, yet in recent years all of my efforts have been in action films like the IP MAN series. I also had the ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL (GA YAU HEI SI) series to make, so I didn't have time."

Wong Pak Ming revealed that earlier he and Yip Wai Shun talked about making the HAPPY GHOST series. Finally they chose to make a movie about magic; he also said that over 20 years ago he already made a movie about magic like HARRY POTTER. HAPPY GHOST used new comers in every film, this time Wong Pak Ming as usual chose a young actress. He said, "When I made ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI), some asked why I would pay all that money for (Cecilia Cheung) Pak Chi's comeback and not use someone new. Because that film required star power, I had to wait until I had a chance for new comers to show their potential."

[2011.07.18] WONG JING WINS CECILIA CHEUNG'S "FIRST"

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Wong Jing directed family film TREASURE HUNT (MO GA JI BO) yesterday held a press conference in Beijing but only Wong Jing attended. The film was Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and her son Lucas Tse's first on screen appearance. Wong Jing had nothing but praise for them and also pointed out that this film was real first film of Pak Chi's comeback.

Wong Jing said that Lucas was very energetic on the set and Pak Chi was more mature than before. Pak Chi used to be a very lively and wild girl, now her acting has matured a lot perhaps due to her experience. Wong Jing pointed out that Pak Chi in the film played a commercial director with a happy family. Dior Cheng Yi Kin played Cheung Pak Chi's husband in the film while Lucas played Cheung Pak Chi's lovable son.

Earlier some said that Cheung Pak Chi would come back to make a Derek Yee Tung Sing film. Did Wong Jing steal her away from Yee Tung Sing? Wong Jing seriously said, "I don't steal anyone away from anyone, Pak Chi's original plan was to make my TREASURE HUNT after Yee Tung Sing's film, but I don't know what problem they had in communication. Finally Pak Chi made my movie. Then she made ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI). Thus TREASURE HUNT was the real first film contract that she signed on her comeback."

The Wong Jing directed TREASURE INN (CHOI SUN HAT JANG) was a big hit in early July in the Mainland and made almost 100 million at the box office. This time TREASURE HUNT was a family film, all the comedy was logical. Wong Jing even mentioned that since TREASURE INN many film critics' views on him changed, which he was very encouraged about.

[2011.04.22] CHAPMAN TO "PERFORMS" MOVIE REVIEW

courtesy of on.cc

Chapman To Man Jat and Krystal Tin Yui Nei attend a birthday party for Donnie Yen Chi Tan's wife Cissy Wang
courtesy of mingpao.com

Chapman To Man Jat two days ago posted his "vocal performance" of a "3D SEX AND ZEN review" to YouTube. He read a viewer's thoughts after 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (3D YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM) in its original format that was filled with foul language. The video received over 330,000 views in one day.

The viewer claimed that SEX AND ZEN was an extreme disappointment to him, lacking in sex scenes but excessive with bloody violence. To Man Jat said, "I haven't see the movie, but earlier I saw Stephen Shiu Jr.'s response to that viewer online and thought this review was very funny. On a whim I recorded it and posted it. I think the online world is very suitable for film people to find inspirations and make exchanges that are close to viewer tastes."

Would he be concerned that his foul language filled performance would affect his image? To Man Jat felt that comedy actors needed different ways to cheer up viewers. Earlier he produced a comedy performance of UNEASY and even put the idea in ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI) to make the audience laugh.

[2011.02.11] DONNIE YEN REFLECTS A HARD LIVING TO THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE

courtesy singtao.com

"The strongest in the universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan last year reached 800 million in total box office alone. He was also the only Hong Kong actors to be invited to appear in the EXPERIENCE CHINA ad, proving his draw. To support Hong Kong film, Chi Tan earlier attended an event with the Chief Executive and his wife and took the chance to reflect the problems that the local film industry faced. He even received the First Lady's reply, "We definitely support it, we would always spend money to watch movies."

Chi Tan earlier was named the ocean conservation ambassador and at the event he was arranged to dine with Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam Kuen and his wife. The hot blooded Chi Tan of course would not miss the chance to discuss the local film industry with them. "I asked Mr. and Mrs. Chief Executive to support Hong Kong films more, fight piracy, illegal online download and other activities. Mrs. Tsang replied, 'We definitely support it, we would always spend money to watch movies.' Then I joked, 'Then you have to see ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI)!' Due to the topic of the evening was ocean conservation, to avoid getting too far from the topic we only chatted a little. I guarantee that they would remember this because Hong Kong film is very important and valuable property and culture."

If he would have another chance to run into them again, what would Chi Tan want to fight for on behalf of the local film industry? "Shooting on location in Hong Kong actually is somewhat troublesome. I understand that Hong Kong is a small place, we can't cause traffic jams. Yet the lack of shoot location is a problem too. I hope we would be able to find a way that would work for everyone. Later I will have several modern films that want to shoot in Hong Kong!"

After being the tought guy, Chi Tan immediately returned to his tender side when asked about his Lunar New Year wish. "I wish to be able to properly enjoy some quality time with my wife and children, cherish every second, cultivate relationships and enjoy the joy of parenthood. I also wish for good health for everyone." Chi Tan last year made over 800 million in China and Hong Kong total box office. Would he like another break through this year? "Whether I break it or not is unimportant, I can't control the box office. I only want to do my best and be able to answer to the audience. Winning back No. 1 word of mouth is enough." In addition, martial art master Chi Tan in the future had intention to drop his armor and play new characters with more clear cut layers. "I want to keep making good movies, play different characters. I don't want to keep doing the 'same old thing'. I have to keep improving in acting and give the audience more freshness. (What kind of character would you like to play?) In ALL'S I also have a break through. I have to add to my range, keep honing my acting, make more movies that are able to spread positive energy. This is what I want to do." Chi Tan has always taken great care of his wife. When he had time he definitely would "follow" his wife. Earlier they appeared at a hospital, his every move was more than attentive to his wife. Rumor of another child spread. Chi Tan mysteriously said, "I have a joyous event! The release of ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011."

Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Cissy Wang, Wang Yuanyuan, Chapman To Man Jat and others last night attended Pegasus film company's Lunar New Year dinner, during which they made a toast to celebrate their Lunar New Year film ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI)'s Southeast Asia box office success.

ALL'S after five days in Hong Kong release passed 10 million and eight days in Mainland release passed 100 million. Boss Wong Pak Ming was very satisfied. Eric Tsang Chi Wai's I LOVE HONG KONG (NGOR OI HK HOI SUM MAN SHUI) made 2 million more than ALL'S in Hong Kong. Did Wong Pak Ming feel like he lost the war of words to Chi Wai? "Not yet! The films are still in release. Globally I beat him. His is more suitable for Hong Kong taste because it is about housing estates and neighbors." Wong Pak Ming also said that this Lunar New Year Chinese film box office beat foreign films, thus he would like everyone to be more united. Chi Wai stated that if their box office exceeded 40 million they would celebrate with streaking and skinny dipping, Boss Wong could not be bothered with Chi Wai. "Since he said it let him bare all he wants, in addition, I already bared all in the film." He also predicted that ALL'S Hong Kong box office should have 20 million and Mainland should have 200 million.

Goo Jai was also satisfied with the box office. Playing an effeminate make up artist, he revealed that during the Lunar New Year children often asked him to play effeminate make up artist for them. In the future he will make a movie in a woman disguise. Was that due to ALL'S? He said, "No, but this film's reaction has been pretty good. (Will you need to lose your tan then?) Special effects will do it, the biggest special effect is making me lighter." To Man Jat earlier went to Dubai for a movie. This time he deliberately returned to Hong Kong to celebrate Valentine's Day with his wife. As for his nude scene in ALL'S being cut and only appearing during the end credits, he honestly said that he was very heartbroken because he really liked to bare his rear.

Carina Lau Ka Ling said that Ip Man possessed Yen Chi Tan during the film. He said, "In one scene in the film I really played Ip Man!" This Valentine's Day, Chi Tan took time off to be with his wife. As for a gift, he said, "Me! (Didn't you already give her a watch?) The watch is the appetizer, the most important is my net worth. (Did you leave that to your wife?) It's no big deal between a couple, since I have no idea she takes care of it!"
