[2012.02.16] NICK CHEUNG TURNS FERAL ON FOUR FIGHTERS

Nick Cheung Ka Fai in order to make the film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO) spent half a year on physical training.  In the film he and prisoner Ken Low Wai Kwong had many fight scenes.  Before the shoot, Ka Fai in order to look better brought fitness equipment to pump up his muscles.  He also lifted weights, performed push ups to appear in his best shape.  The director arranged for Low Wai Kwong and several Thai kickboxing experts to fight with Ka Fai.  In front of the experts Ka Fai had to stay alert.

Ka Fai said that at first he was afraid that the experts' real punches would hurt him, so they held back.  Yet no matter what the fight did not look real, he even told them to stop holding back and he would adjust.  Ka Fai joked that since he had some training he learned a few ways to block.  Actually Ka Fai fought more viciously than the experts as he was an animal.  He chased the four experts and even Low Wai Kwong slipped twice.  Once he almost rammed into the wall and frightening the director into stopping the shoot.

Later, Low Wai Kwong was sweating bullets as well and joked that he finally got a taste of Ka Fai's agility.  He was not superficial and had superb strength.  He said that this time he only worked two days and thought that the shoot would not be too difficult.  Yet after the shoot he truly was exhausted.  After this scene, Ka Fai also breathed a sigh of relief.  He said that half a year of training was for this one scene.  The most vicious was not him but director Roy Chow Hin Yeung, who almost had them killed.  Since he was buying, he could only cooperate and sell.  He only hoped that the sale would have value.

[2011.04.20] DUEN WAI LUN MOVES ON

Sharon Luk Sze Wan yesterday attended a restaurant opening. Duen Wai Lun, Cheung Hok Yun and Wilson Tsui (Ngai Wai) were also on hand. Duen Wai Lun revealed later he will make a new film with Simon Yam Tat Wa and Ken Lo Wai Kwong. Because the funding came from France, the film would also have French actors. Has he been in contact with Jackie Chan lately? He honestly said no. He has been busy on his own and Jackie Chan changed his number. Do they have nothing left to talk about personally? He denied and said, "No such thing, if I have money I would want to work with him on a movie too. (Will you save a role for Jackie Chan in the new film?) Where would I get the money? I think though if I ask him to guest star he probably wouldn't say no, because I know he likes to be on camera very much. In his own movies he often played pedestrian A or B!" Speaking of Willie Chan Chi Keung's Hong Kong Film Award, Duen Wai Lun said that he was happy for him and sent a text message to congratulate him.

[2011.01.27] WILLIE CHAN HOLDS A FUNERAL FOR HIS MOTHER

Willie Chan Chi Keung's mother Chan Sau Yuen earlier passed away at the age of 92. Her family last night held a viewing at the Hong Kong Funeral Home, with the funeral at 10AM this morning. The remains would be transported to the crematorium and the ashes will be placed with Chan Chi Keung's late brother at Po Fook Hill. Chan Chi Keung yesterday through his assistant Steven and former secretary Maggie thanked everyone for their care. He hoped that friends would happily send his mother on her final journey. He even placed red wine at the altar for friends to share a glass.

As for Mother Chan's funeral, it would be a Buddhist ceremony. Chan Chi Keung's mood settled a lot and he was not as sad as before. He thanked his friends for their support.

Many Chan Chi Keung's friends like Ken Low Wai Kwong, Shalline Tse Ning, Shi Nansun, Melvin Wong Kam Sun and Chiu Nga Chi, Ti Lung, Tao Man Ming and their son Shaun Tam Chun Yin, Connie Chu Bo Chu, Kam Kwok Leung, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Chan Chi Keung's godson Juno Mak Chun Lung last night came to pay their respect. Earlier rumored to be at odds with Chan Chi Keung, Jackie Chan was not in Hong Kong but his wife Joan Lin (Lam Fung Giu) attended and left after a few hours. Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung Man Yuk and Andy Lau Tak Wa all sent floral arrangements. Juno stayed for an hour and when he left he said that Godfather was very tough.

In addition, earlier Lam Fung Giu was rumored to have fired Low Wai Kwong and they were thus at odds. Last night they appeared at the funeral home. Low Wai Kwong said that he saw Sister Giu and they chatted.

[2010.08.30] KEN LOW AVOIDS TALKING ABOUT JACKIE CHAN

Alan Tang Kwong Wing two nights ago with Ken Low Wai Kwong, Dave Wang Kit, Anthony Wong Chau Sun and Jackie Lui Chung Yin attended the Hong Kong Muay-Thai Association's 5th standing committee inauguration. The event's press release stated that Paul Wong Koon Chung, Athena Chu Yan, Chin Siu Ho, Chin Kar Lok would attend, but unfortunately they were unable to.

Low Wai Kwong just recently from Thailand from making the new film LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM). Recently the Filipino gunman hostage murders have become the talk of the town. Kwong Jai said, "I don't know how many tears I have shed!" As for the criticism against the Filipino police performance, Kwong Jai was angry as he said, "I can get an ordinary stunt coordinator to lead a team of stunt people and be better than them." His former boss Jackie Chan's "Filipino police support" turned him into focus of attacks and subsequently apologized to settle public rage. Kwong Jai only said, "Is that right? We no longer have much contact." Speaking of whether Kwong Jai was able to get back 200,000 in retirement fund after leaving Jackie Chan's company, he declined to comment and stated that he wanted to talk about happy things. He stated that he was the most tense about his two sons, hoping that both would be able to go to school.

Kwong Jai as a single father admitted that he had some financial issues when he first left Jackie Chan's company. Luckily his friends knew how he was and now he already has many jobs. As for the earlier gossips with Jackie Chan, Kwong Jai quoted Stephen Chan Chi Wan. "The real can't be fake, the fake can't be real. Fact is fact." Kwong Jai stated that now he indeed is happier than before. "20 years ago I was very happy, now I am back I am very happy too. (Were the time with Jackie Chan unhappy?) Jackie Chan was often not in Hong Kong, maybe he has his own reason that others don't understand."

[2010.07.27] BANGKOK BLAST DID NOT HINDER HONG KONG FILM PROFESSIONALS

A fatal explosion took place in Bangkok. Elannie Kong Yuek Lam two nights ago worked on Pang Fat's new film FAIRY TALE KILLER (SOK MING TUNG WA), which ended yesterday morning at 7AM. Originally she planned to go straight to bed at the hotel. Soon text messages from her
family and friends woke her as everyone was worried about her safety over the Bangkok explosion.

Yesterday Elanne said, "Mommy was the most nervous, as she urged me not to go out aside for work. Now I am the only actor left, I feel so grey." Co-stars James and Gary returned to Hong Kong before the explosion and thought the explosion was severe enough to send text message to see how she was. Because she did not reply, they went to the company to "ask for help".

Elanne yesterday was still in Bangkok, waiting director Pang Fat's notice to see whether additional shoot was needed. The soonest she would return to Hong Kong would be tomorrow. Without anything to do, yesterday she went with local workers to the city center for lunch and shopping. "They said today (yesterday) is the Thailand Buddha's birthday, it is a major event. No one would cause trouble today. Thus I was very at ease when I was out. The streets were very quiet. I only saw a black plastic bag of unknown origin on the street and I immediately went the other way. Safety comes first."

Elanne posted that she was safe online to keep her fans from worrying. "Because we shot in a remote country area, at first no one knew what happened. When we saw the headline we were surprised. We are one of 3,000 Hong Kong people who are stuck in danger, but we are fine. Don't worry!"

Despite the explosion, Hong Kong film professionals are still working on location in Thailand. They were used to seeing situations and fearlessly continued on.

Thai Chinese Pang Brothers were not afraid of the explosion. Currently Pang Fat is still working on the "lucky shot" for FAIRY TALE KILLER's production start. He said, "I am used to it, I know it's nothing. Maybe today is the Buddha's birthday, they are all song and dances over there. (What about brother Pang Shun?) He earlier was shooting THE DETECTIVE 2 (B+ JING TAM) over there. Two days ago he just returned to Hong Kong. We are locals, we know where we can go. Heaven looks after lucky people."

Ken Low Wai Kwong earlier worked on FAIRY TALE KILLER. The Thai local pointed out that after the explosion the city was quiet. "Many tourists went shopping. I went to the city myself. (Were you worried about your safety?) No, maybe it's just because of the election. (Any family over there?) My brother, he doesn't live near where it happened. Just avoid the place where it happened then you are fine!"

Model Kelly Fu Ka Lei also worked on FAIRY TALE KILLER. Two days ago as she was about to return to Hong Kong, the explosion took place in Bangkok. When it happened she was only a block away in the shopping district.

"At the time I was shopping, preparing to buy a gift for a friend's birthday. Suddenly I heard boom, even the ground was shaking! Then many people ran to the streets. The people on the streets were like the lead in RUN LOLA RUN, they just kept running! Luckily I didn't go to the supermarket for snacks, if not it would've been big trouble."

Kelly said that after the explosion chaos ensued, people thought the red shirts were rioting again. Thus she immediately took a taxi back to the hotel to pack and leave. Kelly thought she has been very unlucky. "Several months ago when I went to Thailand for an ad I already ran into
the red shirts, several weeks ago during the shoot my eyes got some strange illness. As I was leaving trouble still happened. (Would you consider getting blessing from the White Dragon King?) I heard he's in the hospital!"
