Movie Box Review

The Wang Leehom (Wong Lik Won) directed film LOVE IN DISGUISE two nights ago held its premiere in Taiwan. Aside from cast members Chen Han-Tien and Lang Cho-Kwan, Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun), May Day, Doze Niu Chen-Zer, Mavis Fan Hiu Huen and others also showed the support. Wang Leehom and Chow Kit Lun both made the jump from in front to behind the cameras. They would not see each other as "potential rivals" and would only "know and respect each other".

This film was the first that Wong Lik Won directed. As for the new film box office, Wong Lik Won expressed that of course the more the better. If it would be able to break 100 million that would be even better. Then he would celebrate by jumping into the river. All his fans were willing to jump with him. Wong Lik Won and Chow Kit Lun both were music geniuses. Chairman Chou three years ago directed his first film SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK), which was a commercial and critical hit. Wong Lik Won's new film LOVE IN DISGUISE was also a love story, but LOVE added even more comedy elements. Wong Lik Won stated that the film inspiration came from Eddie Murphy's COMING TO AMERICA. He liked this type of the story that only the audience knew about the lead's true identity, like THE BUTTERFLY LOVERS (LEUNG SAN BAK YU JOOK YING TOI).

He stated that his movie was a disguise movie. No one has seen his in costume and played a comedy. Since he still has not been typecast of course he had to be brave and try. The audience through this character could see the star's "real side", but he pointed out that it absolutely

was not a reflection of himself. The loyal Chairman Chou also supported him to the end. Speaking of Chairman Chou's statement earlier that if his work did not sell he would retire at 35. Wong Lik Won said, "It's impossible, that day will never happen!"

Wang Leehom (Wong Lik Won)'s first film as a director and an actor, LOVE IN DISGUISE (LUEN OI TUNG GO), will be released on Qixi the Chinese Valentine's Day. Director Wang brought Yico Zeng to promote the film in Shenzhen.

As a first time director, Wang Leehom invited Yico Zeng and Liu Yifei to perform. Wang Leehom said, "Yifei is like a diamond. She can sing and dance, knows many languages and has many talents. In addition she is serious at work. I believe this romantic comedy definitely will bring everyone a pleasant surprise. As for Yico Zeng, Her sheep like voice completed touched me. I feel she has quite a style of her own." In the film Ah De's character was memorable. Wang Leehom honestly said that the story's ending more or less reflected his "longing for love", but this loving could only exist in his "romantic fantasy". He wrote the script as such only to tell everyone about his own longing for love. Hopefully one day he too would be like the big star in the film, say what he wanted to say and do what he wanted to do.

Wang Leehom several years ago always said that making a movie was his dream. For LOVE IN DISGUISE he was the director, screen writer, star, executive producer, etc. The first outing as the director was very important to him. As for box office anticipation, he repeatedly stressed, "I look forward to it very much, very much." Wang Leehom said, the film company earlier injected him with a vaccine, saying that new director's box office record was 50 million. However Wang Leehom did not care. He said, "I don't want to be compared to this, the lowest standard. Hopefully it will perform even better. If I am able to join the 100 million yuan club, it should be great."

Yico Zeng was particularly quiet at the press conference and looked very cautious, but finally she could not escape the reporters' chase and was again asked about the nickname "Brother Zeng". Wang Leehom (Wong Lik Won)'s first film as a writer, director and star, LOVE IN DISGUISE (LUEN OI TUNG GO) will be released on August 13, but its pictorial collection is already available to warm up the market. Today Director Wang even took time for a film pictorial collection autograph session in Taipei and shared the growth and creative experience of his debut as a director.

The book is divided into Superstar Chapter, Disguise Chapter, Romance Chapter, School Life Chapter, and Music Chapter, and also collects many exciting stills from the film and the record of his growth as a first time director. Leehom stated that he did not just decide to make a movie out of the blue. He passionately loved creating and enjoyed that type of something out of nothing process, whether with records, writing, acting or directing. These creative processes enriched his life and made his life more meaningful. He also shared his director experience. "A director is like being at the helm, the entire team works toward the direction that you would like to go. In addition, you have to be responsible for all the workers' everyday life. Perhaps due to a lack of personnel, sometimes I have to do a variety of chores like sweeping and moving props myself."

In this inspirational comedy, Leehom even stars in the lead opposite Liu Yifei and Joan Chen. The story not only mixed in music, love, traditional art and culture with other elements but also attempted to deliver a courage of self breakthrough, self hard work and true heart to the audience.
