Paul Chun Pui's mother Hung Mei (originally named Law Chun) passed away early this month at the age of 93.  Law's funeral took place yesterday.  Her sons Chun Pui, John Chiang Dai Wai and Derek Yee Tung Sing, grandchildren Benji Chiang Man Kit and Lesley Chiang Lai Man attended for the final farewell.  Family and friends arrived yesterday morning for the funeral and the ceremony was Catholic.  To prevent media disturbance, the funeral arranged for security to guard the altar and the crematorium gates so the funeral could take place smoothly.  The remains left for the crematorium as five siblings carried their mother's photo to
the hearse.

Almost a hundred friends and family members including Fong Ping, Paw Hee Ching, Ting Yu and others went along.  Some overseas friends and family came from abroad to bid Ms. Law farewell.  Daughter in law Lee Lam lam was saddened as Chiang Dai Wai accompanied her away from the crematorium.  Granddaughter Chiang Lai Man was all tears.

Paul Chun Pui, John Chiang Dai Wai and Derek Yee Tung Sing's mother Hung Mei, originally named Law Chun, earlier passed away at the age of 93.  Yesterday a funeral was held.  The brothers at 4:45PM conducted an interview with reporters.  They were dressed in black suits and said that their mother was a Catholic, so the funeral would be a Catholic ceremony.  After the ceremony the remains will be taken to be
cremated and the ashes will rest at the Chang Sha Wan Catholic cemetery.  Speaking of his mother, Chiang Dai Wai was teary eyed.  Was he reminded of his mother's teaching?  He said, "If I want I can talk for a long time, everyone has parents."  Because his mother was an actress in the 40s, a special memorial program was published.  Yet Chiang Dai Wai said that it was left to be the next generation's responsibility.  They said
that most of the grandchildren returned to Hong Kong for the funeral.

Elaine Chiang Yi Lan brought her children, who left early after paying their respect.  She and her husband Raymond Cho Wing Lim spoke to reporters.  She said that she had many memories of her grandmother, over the years they have been very close.  She said that Grandmother was already 93 and even had great-grandchildren, so she passed away very peacefully.  Although when Grandmother passed away not all the children and grandchildren were present, most were by her side.

In addition, Wong Wai Kei, Albert Yeung Sau Sing, Damien Lau Chung Yan and others attended the service.  Many artists like Louis Koo Tin Lok, Wai Ying Hung, Yeung Sau Sing, Jackie Chan and his wife, Leon Lai Ming, Lau Ching Wan and Amy Kwok Oi Ming, Peter Chan Ho Sun and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Andrew Lau wai Keung, Linda Wong Hing Ping, Vivian Lai Shui Yan sent floral arrangements, Aunt Six also sent a floral arrangement as Shaw Fong Yat Wa.

[2011.10.18] THE GREAT MAGICIAN POSTER SHOWS SOME THOUGHT

courtesy of takungpao.com

The film THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) released its five character posters that included Lau Ching Wan, Zhou Xun, Yan Ni, Wu Gang and Paul Chun Pui.  All five posters had different animals that represented their characters and fate.  The fresh idea filled people with imagination.

Lau Ching Wan's warlord image was the most memorable.  In the poster his eyes were sharp.  In the back was a roaring tiger.  Ching Wan in the new film played a hard to read warlord who loved his wife Zhou Xun.
Zhou Xun's poster displayed the Chinese beauty.  Dressed simple she looked elegant, comparing her to the extremely rare "legendary bird" Chinese Crested Tern could not be more suitable.

Chun Pui's white bearded "lion king" look was also very eye catching. As Zhou Xun's father his explosiveness could be looked forward to in the film.  In the film the villain imprisoned him.  In one scene as
he was tortured Chun Pui screamed in rage.  The crew did not expect that at all and was completely stunned.  With his ample acting, his energy left everyone with nothing but respect for him.

The Derek Yee Tung Sing directed fantasy action film THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) is heating up in production in Beijing. Yesterday the key location "Zhang's House of Magic" was opened for media visits. The director along with actors Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Lau Ching Wan, Zhou Xun, Yan Ni, Wu Gang, Paul Chun Pui and Kenya Sawada all appeared in costumes.

Wai Jai appeared in red as the Great Magician Zhang Xian on the stage. Speaking of the production, Wai Jai said, "I really feel this movie is shooting too quickly. In my experience, this type of movies at least would take half a year or more. Director Yee Tung Sing is able to finish in two to three months, which truly is very fast. Maybe I like this team too much, happy times are often short. Hopefully the boss will make another movie with the original team, which would be great." Was he hinting that Wong Kar Wai's THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s shoot was too slow. Wai Jai denied that and joked that reporters were too sensitive. He explained that the directors were different and did not mean to make any comparison.

Zhou Xun and her on screen father Chun Pui appeared together. In the film Zhou Xun was not only Wai Jai's fiance but also the Warlord Lau Ching Wan's seventh concubine. Yet she chose to appear as "father and daughter" for her first appearance. She defended herself and said, "This isn't my fault, blame Leung Chiu Wai for taking off without a word and letting Lau Ching Wan take me away." As Ching Wan's third concubine Yan Ni joked that Lau Ching Wan loved her the most out of his mates. Ching Wan nodded in agreement. Yan Ni added the he was quite a ladies' man who not only loved Yan Ni but also Zhou Xun. As for working with two Best Actors Zhou Xun simply said "cool". She said that working with two of the most handsome superstars was too great! Yee Tung Sing revealed that the film has already been in production for more than two months. In 20 days or more it will wrap.
