Japanese actor Yasuaki Kurata has been in many classic Hong Kong films.  In his 40 years in the business, he has always treated Hong Kong as his second home.  Kurata 30 years old opened several karate schools.  Recently he chose Hong Kong to be the location for its first overseas school.  Yesterday an opening ceremony was held in Causeway Bay.  Ti Lung, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, Leung Siu Lung and Ting Yu came to congratulate him.  Pseudo models Hidy and Rika even learned from Yasuaki Kurata on the spot and made kung fu poses.

Yasuaki Kurata yesterday demonstrated punches and push ups and showed that he was as fit as ever.  Would he instruct himself?  He said, "I would, perhaps Japanese disciples would instruct.  Actually the most important lesson is personal etiquette."  Speaking of Ricky Hui Koon Ying's passing, Yasuaki Kurata said that he has worked with Sam Hui Koon Kit and they were friends.  However he has met Hui Koon Ying several times and thought he was very gentle and always had a smile.  Was the news of Ah Ying's passing sudden?  He said, "I am 66, these things are inevitable.  Being younger than me was a little more heart breaking."

Ti Lung knew Yasuaki Kurata for a long time and praised Yasuaki Kurata for being casual and punctual as well as a humble learner.  His martial art was different from others.  He said, "He is a very outstanding actor.  He is very enthusiastic about martial art and contributes to it."  Has he sparred with Yasuaki Kurata?  He said, "On the set we have, but he was at more of a disadvantage because he played a villain.  If I played the role I wouldn't be able to handle it."  Speaking of Hui Koon Ying's passing, Ti Lung said that they constantly ran into each other.  He was upset about this because they constantly had coffee and chatted.  He said, "He was a very easy going and gentle person. I hope through here to send my condolences to the Hui family."

[2011.10.21] TI LUNG URGES HONG KONG FILM TO BE MORE POSITIVE

courtesy of takungpao.com

Ti Lung yesterday attended the Performing Artist Guild's monthly tea.  He said that he has worked with some actors on several movies, and known some show business friends for several decades like Ha Chun Chau and Ting Yu.  Thus they cherished the chance to get together every month.  He would try to make time to attend and even volunteer with Guild members.

Later Brother Lung will work on a Qing costume role in Lanzhou.  Speaking of Hong Kong film not being what it used to be and many actors went to act in the Mainland, Brother Lung said that recently he saw a great Indian film 3 IDIOTS and urged Hong Kong film to pick up the pace and catch up.  He said, "Others are winning with quality, culture and inspiration.  I hope Hong Kong colleagues would not make too many movies about the mob or negative human nature and more more movies about human kindness and excellence."

Willie Chan Chi Keung's mother Wong Sau Yuen earlier passed away at the age of 92. A funeral was held yesterday, but Willie kept a low profile throughout. Yesterday artists who paid their
respect included Kam Kwok Leung, Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Ti Lung and his wife and Stanley Kwan Kam Peng. Ti Lung, Kwan Kam Peng, So Chi Hung and others were Mother Chan's pallbearers.

At 10PM after the ceremony family and friends took a bus to the crematorium, but Willie did not made a direct appearance and chose to depart from the backdoor parking lot. The hearse also deliberately took an alternative route conceivably to avoid disturbance.

FROZEN (WAI NEI JUNG CHING) yesterday held its outdoor premiere. Leon Lai Ming, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Janice Man Wing Shan, Janice Vidal (Wai Lan), Ti Lung, Susan Shaw Yam Yam and director Derek Kwok Chi Kin attended. Leon left after speaking for three minutes on stage. However, the film arranged for Janice Man and Ti Lung to appear on a yacht. Janice Man's hands were tied with black cloth. Since her appearance was different, she immediately became the media focus. Lee Chi Ting who started the show performed NICHOLAS and went off key twice.

Leon said, "When I first started I was a film new comer too. At the time many reporter elders took great care of the younger generation. Hopefully everyone would see this movie as a Hong Kong people's movie. Let's see together whether it was made very sincerely." Leon spoke for three minutes then left. In addition yesterday was Susan Shaw Yam Yam's birthday, Wai Lan and Lee Chi Ting immediately sang the birthday song in celebration. The host revealed that Chan Sin Chi was also a birthday boy. Everyone then shared the joy together.

Janice Man was arranged to make a special appearance. She happily said, "I wanted to appear with a sketch, which felt fresher. In the film my on screen father Ti Lung objected to me dating Lee Chi Ting, so my hands were tied. (Did Leon arrange for the special appearance?) Yes, he treated everyone great. The entire team had a lot of fun working together. When I started I had a lot of stress, now I am much more at ease. During the period Leon gave me some acting advice and taught me a lot. I appreciated his help a lot." was Leon whose comments often baffled people easy to understand when he taught acting? She said, "I understood. When I ran into places of uncertainty I would directly ask. At the same time I had guidance from veterans Ti Lung and Shaw Yam Yam." The film's story traveled through time and space and did not lack 80's look. She had many scenes with Leon and also had a special effect scene of being frozen that was more special.

Currently working on BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER, Lee Chi Ting was asked whether due to his film work he did not have time to practice the song. He apologized for singing off key twice. "Really? I am so sorry. I was really into the singing and didn't know I was off key. Actually I had time to practice, maybe it had something to do with lacking sleep." He revealed that BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER will wrap in a week. He also suffered injuries during the shoot. He said, "Aside from many bad takes, I took a shot from a co-star and got a nosebleed. I also suffered a sprain, but it was no big deal."
