Chen Kun, Kwai Lun-Mei, Mavis Fan Hiu Huen earlier posed for a magazine cover to promote FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP).  The trio during the interview all said that director Tsui Hark gave their image an 180 degree turn.  Chen Kun went from a gentleman to a villain.  Always a nice girl, Kwai Lun-Mei turned into a sassy and wild minority tribeswoman.  With her outstanding personality, Fan Hiu Huen became a tender woman.

Claiming to rarely make fight scenes, Chen Kun spent 9 months for the most basic physical, boxing and martial art training.  As the sassy princess Kwai Lun-Mei at first did not know where to start.  "Until when costume designer Mr. Yee Chung Man darkened my face, drew tattoos on it, put a wig and a costume on me.  Then all the foreign territory woman's dominance, exotic wildness all came out.  I still remember after my first fight scene I imagined myself to be a wild wolf or a leopard on the prowl."

The tender character seemed to be quite distant from Fan Hiu Huen's personality.  She said, "The director said that woman is like water, with a very wide range of space for imagination.  Haha!  Luckily during the shoot under the leadership of the director and other co-stars I gradually entered into the character's world!"

[2011.04.12] CHRIS LEE'S MING DYNASTY RICH OFFSPRING IS TRENDY

courtesy of mingpao.com

Chris Lee Yuchun in the Tsui Hark directed wuxia 3D epic FLYING SWORD OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) played a rich offspring in the Ming Dynasty. The ancient desert travel look has been unveiled, her costume alone took more than two and a half months to design. Art director Yee Chung Man tried to "darken" Lee Yuchun's face but finally gave up and used her natural beauty. Lee Yuchun received the director's permission to change the image according to her own ideas. She said, "Like the modern young people who hate to dress the standard way and like to D.I.Y to display their individuality, I deliberately carried the backpack slanted and turned the pants into Chinos. They looked a little more handsome."

Louis Koo Tin Lok and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu in the film MR. AND MRS. INCREDIBLES (SUN KEI HUP NUI) played two heroes. After marriage they lived in secrecy in the Rainbow village. Ten years later, one of them became a sloppy neighborhood protector while the other turned into a
housewife who operated a restaurant. Yee Chung Man designed their costumes, which included retro trendy fashion, Japanese couple clothes, tangerine pajamas, dalmatian spot pajamas and trademark hero costumes.

The most amazing and the trendiest of course was the hand knitted "scarf look", which was improved from sweaters. Yee Chung Man said that the director at first said that the heroic couple were Northern migrants and should have thick coats. Yet everyone thought that fur coats were too traditional so they came up with the idea of sweaters. He thought of hand knit sweaters. Although the styles did not vary much, they were the warmest.

[2010.11.03] ZHOU XUN'S GENTELMAN LOOK RIVALS INVINCIBLE ASIA

Zhou Xun

The Tsui Hark directed 3D wuxia film FLYING SWORD OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) is heating up in production. Lead actress Zhou Xun's costume yesterday was unveiled. This time Zhou Xun played heroine Ling Yanqiu but disguised herself as a gentleman. This was also Zhou Xun's first male disguise on the silver screen. She joked that this time she broke through standards.

About flying solo from Huayi, Zhou Xun honestly said that her current mood was like the character's in the film, "peacefully walk my road, not questioning anything about the world." This time Zhou Xun's costume had a black mask, long blue robe and high hair. Her facial features stood out. She looked even a little like SWORDSMAN II (DUNG FONG BUT BAI)'s Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha). Art director Yee Chung Man said that this time Zhou Xun's make up was simple. The director asked her to be handsome and tough, so her brows was thicken and lengthen to look more manly. The costume originally was mainly in black, but the director thought black was "more than heroic but less than carefree". Finally they decided to use blue to be the main color.

Director Tsui Hark had very complex costume requests for Ling Yanqiu because she had an unique romance. Earlier Zhou Xun's contract with Huayi ended, everyone was concerned with her next step. This film was her first silver screen film flying solo. Zhou Xun admitted that her
mood at the time had a lot to do with reading FLYING SWORD OF DRAGON GATE script. She pointed out that Ling Yanqiu had an awe inspiring and fierce quality. Even in front of her love she had unexpected choices. This was an innate strength and life force. She did not hope to be deliberate but honestly displayed.
