The Hong Kong University yesterday presented eight honorary degrees for the recipients' contribution to the school and the community. They included film workers who raised a preservation fever with ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU), Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting and Alex Law Kai Yui, and former Hong Kong Observatory chief Lam Chiu Ying. They were very excited to wear the caps.
Cheung Yuen Ting and Law Kai Yui had particular deep feeling about returning to their alma mater to receive the honorary degree. Cheung Yuen Ting said that back then she played cool and missed her graduation ceremony. She said, "Unfortunately Mother has already passed away, I regret that I didn't take a photo with her." Cheung Yuen Ting invited her university, secondary school students and sister to attend.
In addition, Cheung Yuen Ting and Law Kai Yui were preparing two separate films. The former would take place in the 30s and the 40s, the latter would be a story about 18th century immigration wave. As for casting, Cheung Yuen Ting wanted to find a Shandong thug and a heroic Shanghai woman and planned to cast in the Mainland. She would keep Simon Yam Tat Wa, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Araif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) in mind with the right characters.
