The Jeff Lau Chun Wai written and directed film 92 THE LEGENDARY LA ROSE NOIRE (92 HAK MUI GWAI DUI HAK MUI GWAI) was selected as one of the 100 MUST SEE HONG KONG MOVIES.  Yesterday it was screened at the Hong Kong Film Award.  Lau Chun Wai returned to Hong Kong in support and even with his always humorous personality.  He also received the support of good friend Corey Yuen Kwai as they talked about the past. Lau Chun Wai revealed that the film's first week box office was beyond brutal.  He immediately took a flight to leave Hong Kong as he did not dare to face this box office.  Luckily Yuen Kwai called to encourage him.  Later the box office gradually rose and had a 160 some day run to become the longest running Hong Kong film release.  Lau Chun Wai said, "That feeling is like Heaven is playing with me!"

Lau Chun Wai said that among his numerous work, the most memorable should be SAVIOR OF THE SOUL (91 SUN DIU HUP NUI) because at the time his parents passed away within a month of each other.  He remembered when he received the call that day, Anita Mui Yim Fong was still sitting next to him and asked why he looked so surprised.  When she learned she told him not to start the shoot, then Lau Chun Wai also called Andy Lau Tak Wa to explain.  Yet at night he still returned to the set and shot a scene that cracked up the late night preview audience.  Lau Chun Wai helplessly said, "The whole feeling is pretty dumb, with such a mood I could actually make such a scene."  Lau Chun Wai said that in the middle of the year he will officially shoot his new film.  It will mainly be a comedy.  The cast and the location have not been decided yet.

[2012.01.31] MICHAEL HUI SEES ANITA MUI IN HIS DREAM

courtesy of mingpao.com

Michael Hui Koon Man yesterday appeared on a Commercial Radio interview.  To raise fund for Suicide Prevention Services he will perform a stand up comedy show at the Hong Kong Coliseum.  On the program he joked about his late friend Anita Mui Yim Fong.  "Ah Mui after passing told me in a dream that God is a woman."

Hui Koon Man remembered when Ah Mui was alive she said that men no matter they are handsome or ugly, rich or poor love to "screw around".  Ah Mui's dream guy had to be rich and handsome, but she did not run into him in her lifetime.  Hui Koon Man at Ah Mui's funeral said to her photo, in Heaven she definitely will find a good man because all the men who love to "screw around" will not go to Heaven; Ah Mui told him in a dream that Heaven has no man because all men love to "screw around" and are sent to Hell.  Even God's husband is kicked out.

On the Lunar New Year's Eve, Hui Koon Man had a reunion dinner with his family.  Although Ricky Hui Koon Ying who passed away last year was missing, the family was even stronger and learned to cherish those around them.  "I have always loved Ah Ying, but I failed to express it.  In the past I only said no and not allowed to him.  (Sam) Hui Koon Kit always praised Ah Ying as very good so they were the closest.  He so far still has not completely adjusted to Ah Ying's passing."

[2012.01.30] TERESA MO GIVES HER SEXIEST TO ERIC TSANG

courtesy of mingpao.com

Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Teresa Mo Shun Kwan team up again during the Lunar New Year for the film I LOVE HONG KONG 2012 (2012 NGOR OI HK HEI SEUNG GA HEI).  Mo Mo would even make a sacrifice for art as her most daring sexy performance in her film career was one of the film's secret weapon.  Mo Mo said, "No one has seen me with so little clothing, displaying the career line during an erotic dance.  Everything is real.  During the shoot the set was clear to a certain level.  When the crew saw this scene they were all wowed."  She worried that her revealing performance would frighten her family, thus she would deliberately invite her husband and daughters to the show.

As the producer and lead actor, Chi Wai was unwilling to have his thunder shown and came up with his own pleasant surprise.  He said, "I would have many costumes and dress up as certain characters so the viewers would smile from their hearts."  Mo Mo thought Chi Wai's performance was hilarious.  He did not like to follow the script, he always improvised.  Chi Wai spoke of this Lunar New Year film was made according to the audience demand.  He hoped to add some atmosphere to the New Year.  The script initially had Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Carol Cheng Yui Ling in mind, but the script was not be written according to their personalities.  With Chin Wa's pregnancy she turned it down.  He then thought of his old partner Mo Mo, along with Stanley Fung Shui Fan, Denise Ho Wan Si, Bosco Wong Chung Chak, Lok Wing, 3F national bust goddess Zhang Xinyu and a group of TVB artists they had a little fun and the result was very satisfying.

Chi Wai praised Ho Wan Si's acting as having her own style and had shades of her mentor Anita Mui Yim Fong.  Ah Si and Wong Chung Chak's kiss scene was the most memorable for him.  Chi Wai joked, "Because I have never seen Ah Si kiss a guy."

Although Mo Mo might be a second choice, she did not mind at all.  "I don't care, I get paid and the role is right for me.  I couldn't agree any faster.  In addition comedy partner is very hard to find, on this rare occasion the co-star is old partner Chi Wai.  We have chemistry so we have more fun."

courtesy of takungpao.com

ANDY LAU UNFORGETTABLE CONCERT two nights ago invited Wa Jai's on screen partner Sammi Cheng Sau Man as his guest. When Wa Jai introduced her he revealed that with Sammi he had the impulse to go "off the rail". "I have to have her in my life. She has a power that makes people pray not to fall for her. Otherwise they can't pull themselves out. Please welcome the only woman who made me go off the rail in my life -- Cheng Sau Man!" Sammi appeared on
stage with a lunch box. Wa Jai said, "Hurry up and feel 12,000 people cheering for you!" Sammi said, "Hey, I have performed ten shows here too! How can I not have felt it before?" Wa Jai then said, "Yet you haven't had 12,000 Wa Jai fans cheering for you!" The Hong Kong Coliseum cheer was deafening. Sammi said, "This proves that your and my fans are inseparable, we are a family!" Her quick wit amazed Wa Jai.

Sammi honestly said that she knew Wa Jai's performance like the back of her hand. She even brought up her mother. "I pay attention to your news and your figure even more, wow! The yellow jacket! The 17 pack abs! Middle aged women like us are drooling, but those Mommy class fans are all in tears. They would say why was Wa Jai so thin! So my Ma decided to make a meal for you! I have known Wa Jai for a long time. I know he hasn't had rice in 50 or 60 years.
Why don't you have some rice for my Ma, I believe your Ma will definitely be very happy!" Wa Jai immediately grabbed the lunch box and had rice in front of 12,000 fans. The entire venue applauded. Sammi screamed, "Wow! It's a rare sight! Wa Jai is eating rice! Not to mention rice, I have never seen him eat at all! Wa Jai actually eats? When Wa Jai and I work on a movie, we don't eat. It really is you don't move, I don't move, we were competing in fasting."

Two nights ago during the love song segment Wa Jai played sentimental. "Actually tonight I am a little upset because today is the day when one of my good friends, Sister Mui, passed away! I want to dedicate this song to the faraway Sister Mui!" Wa Jai then sang HEART ONLY HAS YOU in memory of the superstar of a generation Anita Mui Yim Fong.

Yesterday, October 10, was the late singing queen Anita Mui Yim Fong's 47th birthday. Her fans not only prepared cake, buns, fruit, soft drink and others to pay their respect at Kowloon Tong's Shang Sin Chung Tong but her fan club also held a salute to her at the Tuen Mun Town Plaza. The event invited Sherman Chung Shu Man, Alice Lau Nga Lai, Law Kwan Jor and A-Day as guests. They remembered Sister Mui in different ways, Chung Shu Man's performed BAD GIRL (WAI NUI HAI) and FLAMING RED LIPS (LIT FOR HUNG SHUN); Lau Nga Lai performed RED SPIDER LILY (MAN JU SA WA) and STAND BY ME; A-DAY performed DESTINY (YUEN FUN) and MILLENNIUM QUEEN (CHIN NIN NUI WONG). The event also put a lot of Sister Mui memorabilia on display.

Chung Shu Man said that she thought of her FLAMING RED LIPS look as soon as she thought of Mui Yim Fong. Chung Shu man said, "Sister Mui was very fashion forward, now most singers couldn't catch up to her trendiness. 30 years ago she was as daring as Lady GaGa with her innovative attempts." Reportedly, Emperor's Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and William Chan Wai Ting have developed a romance. Their company mate Chung Shu Man said that she did not read the report and only learned the news from co-workers. She said, "I work with Chan Wai Ting all the time, but I never heard him talking about this. I of course am uncertain about them, but dating is a good thing. Whether true or not, they should be the ones to respond." She also said that she was somewhat surprised when she heard and would consider calling Chan Wai Ting after the promotion to check on him. Earlier Ah Sa and Chan Wai Ting shared a birthday party, Chung Shu Man said that she always thought that they only had one party because their birthdays were close to each other. She did not think too much about it.

Yesterday attending in a wheelchair, Law Kwan Jor was full of spirit. He said that every year he would take this day off to attend Ah Mui memorial events. Law Kwan Jor said, "Soon it will be seven years, every year I will share something about her on the stage." Losing his right foot earlier, he earlier was scheduled to be fitted for prostheses but because his bone has dislocated the doctor said that he would need further physical therapy and recovery before the process. He said, "The doctor said I shouldn't need another operation, I am very afraid of another operation." He also said that after two operations with general anesthesia, luckily his memory did not reduced as rumored. Now he is writing a new book that teaches readers pronunciation and enunciation, then he will write 40 YEARS OF ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT. At the same time he has been busy as a Department of Labor instructor who teaches young people how to handle job interviews.

In addition, yesterday many artists wrote messages on their micro blogs in memory of Sister Mui. Her disciple Denise Ho Wan Si said, "After coming back from Taiwan, I brought my little god daughter to say Happy Birthday to Ah Jeh. Seven years in the brink of an eye, you must be very happy under the shade of the great Buddha, laughing all the way as you accept each of our remembrance. Everyone still think about you a lot and still miss every part of you. Your effort and energy that exceed others of course will continue to live in the hearts of others. You never left!" Joey Yung Cho Yi also wrote, "Sister Mui, I didn't have many opportunity to be in contact with you, but every time has been unforgettable for me. In 1999, back stage at your concert, the boss brought me to greet you. At the time perhaps your charm and aura stunned me, like an idiot I didn't know how to respond. When I got home I even thought about how someone is structured to be able to sing and dance at will in a pair of eight inch high heels?" Joey also said, "In 2000, I attended your birthday party. The most, most memorable for me was the dance with you, half drunk you whispered encouragement in my ears. It was very touching and I will always remember it in my heart." Currently busy with her concert Miriam Yeung Chin Wa also remembered to say to Sister Mui, "Happy Birthday, Sister Mui!" Another one of Sister Mui's disciples Calvin Choi Yat Chi said, "To my most beloved mentor, Happy Birthday! Hopefully you are happy wherever you are."

[2010.08.07] TO WAI TUNG ACCUSES ANITA MUI FANS OF MAKING TROUBLE

courtesy of takungpao.com

Experienced media person To Wai Tung's daughter To Yu Fung yesterday attended an event. The doting father made an appearance in support of his daughter. To Sir's new book SHINING STARS recently has been accused of making money off the late Anita Mui Yim Fong. He
defended, "Even Chow Yun Fat made CONFUCIUS, someone would be dead when history is mentioned, is bring up history making money off the dead?"

To Sir in his new book mentioned Ah Mui in order to work with Andy Lau Tak Wa "pleaded and beg" Golden Harvest boss Leonard Ho Koon Cheung to make AU REVOIR, MON AMOUR (HO YUT KWUN JOI LOI) and asked someone to convince Wa Jai to star, finally upsetting Mui's fans because actually Wa Jai did not participate in AU. To Sir stated that Sister Mui at the time enjoyed working with famous and handsome artists like Lau Tak Wa. As for the date "difference", he expressed that he wrote about the process but remember the title wrong. It should have been KAWASHIMA YOSHIKO (CHUEN DOH FONG JI). He honestly said, "I wrote it wrong from memory." He also said that he only wrote a memoir, not a biography. As for the displeasure of Mui's fans, To Sir seemed uncaring and stated that Mui's fans were upset that the book did not cover Ah Mui as much as Teresa Tang Lai Kwan. He also accused of Mui's fans of being unreasonable and fighting for exposure. As for his new book's sales, he said that he cared more about his daughter's than his so he did not know whether more edition would be published.
