[2011.10.12] WU CHUN GETS SURPRISE DESERT BIRTHDAY PARTY

courtesy of takungpao.com

October 10th was Wu Chun's 32nd birthday.  Currently working on the film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) in Beijing, he had a tight schedule.  The team could not free Wu Chun to
celebrate with his family in Brunei, so he spent his birthday at work.

The film shot a boulder attack on the Yangs.  On Wu Chun's birthday, also on the set were Adam Chau Siu Chau, Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Raymond Lam Fung, Vic Chou Yu Man, Yu Bo, Li Chen and Fu Xinbo.  Although many on the team knew that it was Wu Chun's birthday, the producer asked everyone to prevent that they did not know and even banned him from wishing Wu Chun Happy Birthday.  The goal was a surprise party for Wu Chun.

Because the location was a remote desert that was several hours by car from Beijing, the team asked workers to pick up the cake before sunrise in hopes of being able to reach the set before lunch to celebrate
with Wu Chun.  At Wu Chun's final close up before lunch, Chau Guoon and the other six sons unusually went to eat without waiting for Wu Chun.  Only Wu Chun was left with other workers to continue the shoot.  Actually they prepared a cake and waited outside the studio to wait for Wu Chun to finish.  As soon as Wu Chun stepped out of the gates Chau Guoon and the six sons of Yang already gathered and sang the birthday song while presenting the super large cake.  Wu Chun was both surprised and moved.

Wu Chun said that he usually took time off on his birthday to go home and keep his father company.  Although this year he had to spend his birthday on the set, he truly never thought about everyone celebrating with him.  As soon as he sang his on screen brothers and father singing the birthday song, he truly felt super warm and touched.  It was the first time that he celebrated with so many brothers.  Ekin and Lam Fung said that after months of working together the seven brothers were very close.  The hardest part was keeping themselves from talking to Wu Chun.  Yet when they saw how happy he was with the birthday cake, they knew that their plan was a success.

The Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced, Ronny Yu Yun Tai directed SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) yesterday held a press conference in Beijing and officially announced that Dior Cheng Yi Kin will replace Louis Koo Tin Lok who dropped out due to a leg injury. Yu Yun Tai pointed out that it was divine will.

Playing Yang Linggong, Adam Cheng Siu Chau yesterday led oldest son Ekin Cheng, second son Yu Bo, third son Vic Chou (Chow Yu Ma), fifth son Raymond Lam Fung, sixth son Wu Chun and seventh son Fu Xinbo met with the media in Beijing. Only the fourth son Li Chen due to scheduling issue could not attend.

Being called a second choice, Ekin originally in the play would play the villain Ye Luyuan. Yu Yun Tai thanked Ekin for saving him. Originally at the time Ekin hoped to challenge himself with a villain performance and asked for a day to consider, but the director said no. Finally Ekin that day agreed to take the role. Yet the director also said, "From the beginning of the preparation, I thought the oldest son would be Ekin. Yet boss Wong Pak Ming said that he signed Koo Tin Lok to be a basic actor. Since he said that I couldn't do anything about it. Now Ekin still ends up with this role, it's divine will." Ekin did not mind the role switch, only the performance method would be different. However this time they had more action on horseback. Never a rider, he earlier deliberately went to learn. Unfortunately he said, "I fell off the horse many times, I even rode an infection out of the 'pat pat'. So in less than ten days I had to rush back to Hong Kong to see a doctor." "Pat pat" had many sensitive areas, Ekin stressed that only the meaty part was infected.

Among the seven sons, Chau Guoon has only worked with Ekin. Back then they worked together on the television series INSTINCT (SIU HONG FUNG WON). Chau Guoon said that Ekin at the time was still a young man who enjoyed video games. With seven young and handsome sons all at once, Chau Guoon said that it felt decent. Yesterday he held his own with light adjusting sunglasses and a leopard print shirt. He and Lam Fung got along famously. When they went off stage for media interview, they even held hands and secretly competed in chok look. Ekin called Chau Guoon the Chok King Ancestor, costume and modern fashion had different way of chok. Even Lam Fung submitted and proclaimed him god. Chau Guoon joked that the look followed his wife's orders. He already snuck out a black jacket to keep from standing out too much and stealing the show from the six sons.

Lam Fung and Jai Jai both grew facial hair for their roles. Lam Fung thought it was more natural than fake beard. Gaining two kilograms but still frail, Jai Jai this time officially learned to ride a horse for the shoot. As for Ekin's "pat pat" infection from the training, he felt that the technique was hard to grasp right away. The horse could be out of control all of a sudden so he needed to grasp the sense of balance and react quickly; Lam Fung joked that Ekin might be infected from being hot tempered.

The Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) today started production in Kaifeng, Henan. Raymond Lam Fung, Wu Chun, Vic Chou Yu Man, Yu Bo, Fu Xinbo appeared and attracted 300 fans. Later, the team went to pay their respect to the Yang family ancestors at the Yang House. However Adam Cheng Siu Chau who played Yang Linggong, Louis Koo Tin Lok who played the oldest son and Li Chen who played the fourth son. Goo Jai due to leg injury and Li Chen due to work were absent.

The film cost almost 200 million. The Ronny Yu Yun Tai directed, Wong Pak Chi's son Edmond Wong Chi Hung written film starred top film stars of three lands on both sides of the strait. Lam Fung played the fifth son, Wu Chun the sixth son, Chou Yu Man the third son and Yu Bo the second song, Fu Xinbo the seventh son, Dior Cheng Yi Kin as Pan Renmei, and Xu Fan as She Taijun. The actors shared their feeling after they received the script. Because the story was mainly about siblings and family, Wu Chun after reading it wanted to call his father. Lam Fung already imagined the scenes as he read the script and believed that everyone would like it. As for Jai Jai who would play in costume for the first time, he said that he was very happy to run into a good script. Originally he worried that his costume look would be terrifying, but he was unexpectedly handsome. Later he also added, "The other brothers are also very handsome." Goo Jai was absent due to his right leg injury. Wong Pak Ming revealed that he has talked with Goo Jai over the phone, although his injury has improved the doctor's report would determine when he would start work. Wong Pak Ming also stressed that he would not recast because Goo Jai was the soul of the story.

Wu Chun, Jai Jai and Lam Fung all worried about Goo Jai's injury and wished him a speedy recovery. Lam Fung ten years ago worked with Goo Jai on STEP INTO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI) so he looked forward to working together again very much. Making his costume debut Jai Jai joked that despite the action director on the hand he still wanted to ask Wu Chun to be his personal trainer. Wu Chun immediately agreed. They also had to learn to ride for the film together. Jai Jai said that he had to foster a relationship with the horse and he already had three lessons. Every time he improved.

Famous director Wong Tin Lam on November 16 passed away at the age of 83. Uncle Tin Lam directed over 100 films, later he joined TVB and produced many classic television series. The funeral began last night at the World Funeral Home. Uncle Tin Lam had many disciples and made enormous contributions to the film and television scene. Last night many film and television celebrities came to show their respect from three lands on both sides of the strait. Uncle Tin Lam's son Wong Jing recalled his father's lesson and grew teary eyed.

Wong Jing and his four sisters yesterday arrived at the altar earlier. The funeral will be a Buddhist ceremony. The funeral committee created a special program for the mourners. Lam Ka Tung and Lam Suet, who have worked with Uncle Tin Lam, also arrived early to help. Uncle Tin Lam's disciples Johnnie To Kei Fung and Ringo Lam Lan Tung arrived after 3PM. Wong Jing spoke with reporters in the afternoon. Speaking of his father's remaining wish, Wong Jing pointed out that Father before passing already saw all the relatives, disciples and the best of friends. He was very fortunate and did not have too many regrets. Burial items were all items that he used in his life. Because they could not be cremated, they could only go as far as the crematorium.

As for lessons from Father, Wong Jing grew teary eyed. He pointed out that Father always said to him, "Son, award is destined. Don't force it." Father has said that to him since he was little. Will more memorial events be on the way? Wong Jing said now is enough and a special
program was published. The Buddhist chant ceremony will be ongoing until the final 7 days. He believed everyone will remember him. He pointed out that Father did not want to trouble too many friends. As long as everyone will keep him in their hearts, nothing too deliberate needed to be done. Wong Jing also pointed out that Chow Yun Fat was working in the Mainland and could not come, but he asked To Kei Fung to send his regards. The funeral ceremony starts today at 10AM. Friends of Uncle Tin Lam like Lau Tin Chi, Chung King Fai and Liza Wang Ming Chuen will give eulogies. His 70s, 80s, 90s disciples Lam Lan Tung, To Kei Fung, Benny Chan Muk Sing, Yau Nai Hoi, Patrick Tse Yin, Kenneth Tsang Kong, Damien Lau Chung Yun, Felix Wong Yat Wa will be pallbearers. After the ceremony his remains will head to the crematorium. His ashes will be at Po Pook Hill alongside his beloved wife.

Ann Hui On Wa was not familiar with Uncle Tin Lam but they have seen each other at TVB and greeted each other. She was more familiar with Wong Jing. Lam Ka Tung said that he had very little opportunity to work with Uncle Tin Lam during his television days, instead in films they
worked together more. They also attended the Cannes Film Festival together. At the time he was responsible for taking care of Uncle Tin Lam. He pointed out that Uncle Tin Lam taught him to be calm at the time because young people spoke fast and played madly. Once he learned about Uncle Tin Lam's passing, he immediately called To Kei Fung to see if he could help in any way.

Wong Yat Wa said that Uncle Tin Lam asked him and Michael Miu Kiu Wai to star in THE LEGEND OF CONDOR HEROES (SEH DIU YING HUNG JUEN). He really appreciated him for giving him a chance to work on such a popular series that has been aired and aired again. Wong Yat Wa pointed out that because Uncle Tin Lam asked him to play this character he had his
achievements today. The last time he saw Uncle Tin Lam was at his birthday. When they saw each other on To Kei Fung's set or in the studio they would talk about their experience together. He remembered during CONDOR Uncle Tin Lam said to him, "Kid, since I ask you to work, you can relax. You can just be yourself. He also asked Sei Gor and Lau Tan to keep an eye on me." Wong Yat Wa said that Uncle Tin Lam made such great achievements and had so many disciples, he conceivably had no regret and would depart with joy.

Guests who came to pay their respects included Monica Chan Fat Yung, Cheng Pei Pei, Manfred Wong (Man Jun), Stephen Chan Chi Wan, Lau Ching Wan, Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Chapman To Man Jat, John Chiang Dai Wai and Lee Lam Lam, Wong Yat Wa and Miu Kiu Wai, Chik Mei Chun and Elaine Lok Yi Ling. In addition, Chow Yun Fat, Louisa Lee Sze Kei, Stephen Chow Sing
Chi, Andy Lau Tak Wa, Liza Wang Ming Chuen and others sent floral arrangements.

Maggie Siu Mei Kei and Dior Cheng Yi Kin also came, but Siu Mei Kei left before Cheng Yi Kin appeared. Cheng Siu Chau said that he took time from his series meal time to pay his respect. He said that originally he was one of the pallbearers but due to the series he could not make time. Chau Guoon said that he learned a lot from Uncle Tin Lam. Back then when they worked on THE BOOK AND THE SWORD (SHU GIM YUN SAU LOK) Uncle Tin Lam said that no matter how tough, even sick, he still had to make the show well. Finally the series aired as scheduled and received good rating. Chau Guoon remembered the most Uncle Tin Lam's spirit of perseverance. Deborah Li said that Uncle Tin Lam was good teacher like a father he was not mean at all. He was very patient with teaching younger generations and full of love. Nick Cheung Ka Fai revealed that he met Uncle Tin Lam through Wong Jing. They have worked together, he was a lovably senior with a kind heart and full of great achievement.
