[2012.02.10] DONNIE YEN ATTRACTS THOUSANDS IN SHENZHEN

courtesy of on.cc

Donnie Yen Chi Tan two nights ago worked on the Clarence Ford (Fok Yiu Leung) directed film DUT SHU SUN FUN in Shenzhen.  Because they had to shoot a pouring rain scene, three blocks were blocked.  The team yesterday posted notices that detailed the production date and location to inform nearby residents.

The notice achieved the opposite effect though as the notice was posted online.  Two nights ago fans flocked to the location as almost 1,000 people gathered.  Some even looked at from nearby roofs.

Chi Tan never expected such a turn out and even he was surprised.  He urged everyone to pay attention to safety.  Director Fok Yiu Leung might have expected the situation, thus he arranged for almost 70 person security team to maintain order.  He said, "The security team included powerful locals and the police.  Security would be very steady."

For the rain scene, three large water trucks and many workers participated.  Chi Tan in the film played an undercover officer.  Two nights ago he appeared in a mobster look.  Famous tattoo artists spent four to five hours on him.

DUT not only starred Chi Tan but also Vincent Zhao Wenzhou, Zhang Hanyu and Mainland star Jing Tian.  Fok Yiu Leung pointed out that because the investor really liked Chi Tan, the investment had no upper limit.  He admitted that at first Chi Tan worried the watch and the chains would be scratched during fight scenes.  He asked for counterfeits instead but the boss did not mind.  He told Chi Tan to fight and not to keep it in mind.  Chi Tan was not only an actor but also an action director.  Earlier he secretly trained Jing Tian for a week and praised her potential.

The film will shoot in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.  In Shenzhen the wired action scenes on the roof would be shot as well as a five car crash with six HK$600,000 luxury cars.  Five would be totaled and one would be the back up.  Later the team will shoot in Hong Kong and even use a helicopter.

This would be Chi Tan and Zhao Wenzhou's first collaboration.  They admired each other and even looked forward to their fight scene in the film.  Chi Tan stated that he would as the "action director" design several "brilliant" fight scene for him and Zhao Wenzhou so viewers would have fun.  As the producer, he joked that "producer" actually was "hard work" (homonym).  He actually would learn from director Fok Yiu Leung and participated in the shoot like an apprentice.

Golden Horse Award winning Best Actor Zhang Hanyu has always appeared in a courageous and cool tough guy image and rarely made action films.  Working with two kung fu superstars Chi Tan and Zhao Wenzhou, he looked forward to this film the most this year.

Thus during the shoot, she often shared her sweet married life with the team and even showed off her daughter's baby photos. She said, "Shooting in China feels too free and too comfortable because all the chores at home are left with my husband. However I still miss my beloved daughter every moment, I even worried that Hubby would forget to feed and change her."

Kim Hee-Sun also said that during THE WARRING STATE, the team treated her very well as she was often invited to drink and sing with them to relieve stress. However she complained that every time Sun Honglei sang he asked to sing THE MYTH (SUN WA) theme song with her, so he could sing Jackie Chan's part and feel like a singer.

Sun Honglei revealed that during the shoot he suffered on and off screen because in the film he suffered Ng Chun Yu's cruel torture and off camera they shot near the border everyday. The shoot was so tough that he finally had kidney stone. Completely helpless, he could only take time off to go to the hospital for treatment. He hoped that everyone would understand and give her some time. Later the host also said that Pak Chi could not attend due to health reasons and asked everyone to applaud to wish her an early recovery. As the press conference, the team broke into three groups of media interviews. Kwan Kam Peng who was with Kwon Sung-Woo and Chen Taisheng first stated, "Just ask me anything about Cheung Pak Chi, Kwon Sung-Woo doesn't want to say anything for Cheung Pak Chi." He honestly said that Pak Chi's manager Emily yesterday also came to Shenzhen for a meeting and gave the team an understanding of Pak Chi's current health condition. He said, "Emily said that she would head back and 'convince' Pak Chi to return to work as soon as possible. (Does the term convince mean she is unwilling to return?) We have to give her even greater support. In the film she played two different characters who are very different, the pressure is also large. In addition recently something unpleasant happened to her, the pressure and the exhaustion were even greater." Would Pak Chi's time off affect the production progress? Kwan Kam Peng continued, "We have another plan, hopefully we make up the progress. Kwon Sung-Woo in June will head to Paris for Jackie Chan's film, but Pak Chi's role will not be eliminated." He revealed that Pak Chi originally would return to the team two days ago. Emily would inform them when she would return. However he was not worried that Pak Chi would quit the film halfway and was confident that Pak Chi will be back soon.

Pak Chi's absence left Kwon Sung-Woo to carry the load alone. He said that for his first overseas development and movie in China he inevitably was nervous. Luckily with everyone's care and assistance the collaboration has been very pleasant. He also cherished this chance very
much. Because this was his first movie for the overseas market, it was very important to him. As for working with Pak Chi for the first time, Kwon Sung-Woo praised Pak Chi as a very seasoned actress in Chinese film. She did not just rely on one or two film to have everything that she had today. In the film her acting was very outstanding. She also worked on a Korean film before, and FAILAN was very popular with the Korean viewers. He said, "On this collaboration, many on the set said that she was very focused and performed very well. Pak Chi in the film played two characters, a lady and a strong woman. She gave a very focused performance and helped me a lot." In addition Kwon Sung-Woo reportedly was not used to Chinese food and insisted on Korean food during the shoot. He clarified that the report was baseless and honestly said that he liked Chinese food. As for whether Pak Chi's time off would affect his new film schedule in Paris next month, he believed that they had ample time and he would not be affected.

Director Poon Yuen Leung, Jing Tian and Ting Chun Sing were interviewed. Poon Yuen Leung revealed that the film has already more than half shot. As for Pak Chi's time off, he said, "Everything about her has been said on stage, I don't have anything to add. (When will she return to work?) No comment." Jing Tian played Pak Chi's cousin and had many scenes together. She felt that Pak Chi was very nice and her idol. Speaking of Pak Chi's time off, Poon Yuen Leung immediately cut in. "I believe we all lover her. Everyone is supportive of her. We are done."

Some said that this was how first love felt like, exactly like how he received the first call from the girl he had a crush on. When asked whether he thought about his first love during this scene, Ho Yun Tung said, "Wow, how do you know, that's amazing. Although first time is so long ago for me, indeed during this scene I thought of my emotions then." Ho Yun Tung's Xian co-star Jing Tian was still a third year student at the Beijing Film Academy and known as "Beijing Film Academy Flower" on the internet. As a new comer, Jing Tian shyly said, "Actually girls can relate to a lot in the film. My friends said that the motorcycle ride in the film, sharing a scarf at night, reminded them of their university days when they rode with their boyfriends to the librarian everyday. It was almost like finding the long missed first love feeling. They also said that our firework by the sea and playing games to remember our childhood was particularly touching, many of them could not help but cried."

Ho Yun Tung was not worried about the "after shock" summer slot. He said, "MY BELLE BOSS and AFTER SHOCK are incomparable, this film's box office remains hard to predict but the word of mouth has definitely been great. When you watch MY BELLE BOSS, you would be touched a little in happiness." When asked whether he would move from television series to film production, Ho Yun Tung said, "Producing has always been my dream. Producing a movie isn't that simple and requires a lot of money. So I have to keep acting and work hard to make money."
