chair Peter Lam Kin Ngok, with the Cheung Sing Seung, Teddy Chan Tak Sum, Lawrence Cheng Tang Shui, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Josie Ho Chiu Yi, Conroy Chan Chi Chung and Teddy Robin Kwan formed Hong Kong new century producer representative team.  They later would conduct an exchange event in Taiwan.  Lam Kin Ngok pointed out that on this trip to Taiwan, he will be able to directly exchange the latest film and multimedia industry market information with Taiwan producers.  He hoped to open the door of collaboration.  Next March many events will also take place during the Hong Kong International Film and Television Market, which will provide a negotiation platform for Hong Kong new century producers and Mainland and overseas filmmakers to assist them and the Internet industry and the new media industry operators to confirm commercial collaboration projects.

Earlier reports claimed that Lam Kin Ngok led show business personnel to participate in the Chief Executive electoral commission, Leon Lai Ming clarified that he did not participate.  Stephen Chow Sing Chi who was rumored to take Lai Ming's place also said that he had to consider it.  Lam Kin Ngor said that they had to select someone who could represent show business.  Through deep consideration, each organization had a representative.  They mainly wanted to help the show business.  He said, "Anyone I approach is out of representation.  Leon thought that he would go himself, but actually his assistant didn't apply for him."  Now has he approached Sing Yeh?  Lam Kin Ngok said that he did not know but he would find someone recognizable in show business and everyone will know tomorrow.  Lam Kin Ngok said that singer representative included Alan Tam Wing Lun.  As for confidence, he said that reporters asked about confidence, he never talked about it.  He was only responsible for organizing.  He was not qualified to invite anyone.  As for his choice, he joked it was himself.  He too wanted to do something for the Hong Kong film industry.

2011 FIRST youth film festival two nights ago took place at the Xinning Qinghai University.  Zhang Ziyi with LOVE FOR LIFE (JUI OI) won Best Actress again and the "the Chinese filmmaker with the most international university student attention".  Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) with OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2) defeated SHAOLIN (SUN SIU LUM JI) and DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DIK YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK)'s Andy Lau Tak Wa to win Best Actor.  In the Best Actress category, Zhang Ziyi had over 30,000 votes more than second place Fan Bingbing.

This event hoped through young university student exchanges to discover even more new filmmakers.  When jury members and guest presenters Teddy Chan Tak Sum and Guan Hu presented the award to Zhang Ziyi, she humorously said, "I too just ended my summer vacation.  I am preparing to start school with my course DANGEROUS LIAISON, thank you everyone for your recognition and high grade of my course last year LOVE FOR LIFE.  I hope very much to have the chance to work with young directors in the future.  I too hope that I will be able to provide them with an even better platform, for young filmmakers with ideas in China to be able to display their own stage."  At the same time she again won the "Chinese filmmaker with the most international university student attention".  She took a deep breath, carried that heavy "brick", smiled and said, "Tonight all the friends who won said that this award was heavy like a brick.  I too told friends that this could be called the 'youth film golden brick award'.  I volunteer to be the best spokesperson."

Ziyi also said, "Among Chinese actresses I have to the one who have been beaten with bricks the most and the most viciously.  Yet I want to tell everyone, as long as you still have a breath, as long as you haven't been beaten to death, you have to bravely stand up and happily run toward your goal and your dream."  This self ridicule won the cheers and the applause of the entire venue.  Later reporters asked her about her gossip with Leon Lai Ming.  She said, "It's absurd.  I hope from now on people will keep making up stories for me, after fooling reporters they can fool me."

Deep Ng Ho Hong two nights ago attended a charity fight, girlfriend Jacqueline Chong Si Man came to cheer him on. Michael Wong Man Tak also attended as a guest performer. Deep said that recently he had to prepare for his new record, so he already spent two months on it. Chong Si Man joked that she treated two nights ago as a trip to the country but would ask her boyfriend to give a doll to her. Deep said that due to her allergy he would not buy a doll. His goal was to buy a home. Speaking of Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's marriage trouble rumors, Deep said that last week he was in Malaysia to work on the film THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN). At the time he saw Tse Ting Fung who was in great shape, his mood was not affected. No matter what, he would support Ting Fung.

In addition, Teddy Chan Tak Sum, Philip Ng Won Lung and Barbara Wong Chun Chun two nights ago attended a judo dojo opening. Ng Won Lung was linked to Linda Chung Ka Yun in rumors. Ka Yun recently went out with a former classmate and seemed rather intimate. He said that he did not understand Chinese so he did not read the report. He honestly said that he was in contact with Ka Yun and they were still friends. Ng Won Lung and Ting Fung were friends as well. About his marriage rumors, Ng Won Lung said that earlier they spoke on the phone. However Ting Fung is working on a movie in Malaysia so he has not contacted him yet. He would not bother him either. He said if Ting Fung was bored, wanted to play video games or talk about kung fu he would call him. However they rarely talked about their family.

Earlier Chan Tak Sum and producer Peter Chan Ho Sun were rumored to be at odds, now Andrew Lau Wai Keung has taken his place as the director of THE FLYING GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI). Chan Tak Sum pointed out that if it was not written like this the press would have nothing to write about. He said, "I couldn't possibly hold on to the movie and not make it! Of course we are not at odds. Earlier when we made BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) Chan Ho Sun and I were rumored to be at odds too. If it was true we wouldn't have worked together again. Now Lau Wai Keung is making it it's good too, his action scenes would be great." Chan Tak Sum said that now he would make two action films at the end of the film and would produce one film as well. All three scripts were tailored for Ting Fung. Was he worried that Ting Fung would not be in the mood to work due to marriage troubles? Chan Tak Sum said that in his generation, Ting Fung was very hard working and willing to take risks. He was very professional.

Hong Kong show business earlier raised fund for the Japan earthquake relief with ARTISTES 311 LOVE BEYOND BORDER and successfully raised HK$26.6 million. Yesterday a check presentation ceremony was held. The event supervising member Jackie Chan, Mr. Barry Wong, planner Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau command commanding officer Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Pho (Fu Sam Chuen) and community relations director Wong Kwok Ching attended.

Lau Wai Keung said that 26.08 million have already gone to the Salvation Army for relief packages for the victims. The remaining donations were being collected. Later all of the donations would be accounted for. Jackie Chan pointed out that "trouble in one direction, assistance from eight directions" has always been the Hong Kong show business motto. They would carefully handle each relief project funding. Jackie Chan this time donated 4.1 million including the event production cost. The Salvation Army in mid May will visit Japan. Originally Jackie Chan wanted to tag along, but due to work he changed his mind.

Yesterday a report claimed that Hong Kong actresses were losing opportunities to Mainland actresses because many Mainland actresses had behind the scene bosses who pay for the movies. Jackie Chan said that he also signed Mainland actress Lin Peng and would recommend her to friends. Maybe everyone would use Lin Peng as a favor to him, but he did not know about the question of the behind the scene bosses. Ultimately he liked to use new comers. He also would recommend Hong Kong actresses to Mainland productions. Speaking of Hong Kong actor quota in co-productions, as the Motion Picture Industry Association vice chair Jackie Chan would like the chance to suggest to Mainland film bureau not to differentiate between Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan artists because everyone actually were Chinese artists. Actors should not have border differentiation.

Lau Wai Keung said that he used Shu Qi. He pointed out that now Mainland co-production standards were very loosen. Earlier when he made LEGEND OF THE FIST THE RETURN OF CHEN ZHEN (JING MO FUNG WON CHEN ZHEN) the cast had Hong Kong actors, so no one should be too negative. For THE FLYING GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI), producer Peter Chan Ho Sun and director Teddy Chan Tak Sum were at odds and he had to take over. Lau Wai Keung avoided the subject and for now he could not talk about the situation. Was he afraid of upsetting Chan Tak Sum? He said, "I don't care about that!"

Fashion store I.T. boss Shum Ka Wai two nights ago held a grand opening ceremony in Causeway Bay, over 50 artists like Carina Lau Ka Ling, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, Julian Cheung Chi Lam and wife Anita Yuen Wing Yi, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and others attended. Recently artists Max Mok Siu Chung and Suen Hing were arrested on drug charges, leading to speculation of a drug using artist list. Some tabloids even hinted at artists. Lau Ka Ling was asked whether she was under suspicion? She directly said that she would not take drug. If anyone believed that she took drugs they were silly. Shum Ka Wai's wife Chingmy Yau Suk Ching also attended, but Yau Suk Ching maintained her usual low profile. Pak Chi after the ceremony also rushed in a hurry.

Lau Ka Ling said that she came to congratulate Yau Suk Ching because they have known each other for years. Did she show her support for free? She said almost, but joked that she did not sponsored her. She only got a discount. Ka Ling earlier won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress, she said that her emotions have already settled down. More movies have been offered to her but she did not get a raise. Did she and her husband celebrate? She said, "Not yet, he is still making a movie. I still haven't seen him yet." Ka Ling said that her husband already did his part and she was very pleased. However she did not reveal what it was. She said, "I would be happy for me. He was more excited than me." If she had a child, would her life be more perfect? Ka Ling said not necessarily, life has many things. She would not only focus on having a child, which she would leave up to chance.

In addition, Peter Chan Ho Sun recently worked with director Teddy Chan Tak Sum on the new film THE FLYING GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI). They were rumored to be at odds and thus had to ask Andrew Lau Wai Keung for help. FLYING has been postponed half a year. Two nights ago Chan Ho Sun explained that the script was not ready and for now it had to be postponed. He said that he and Chan Tak Sum were not at odds, but the delay would cost several millions.

[2011.04.27] PETER CHAN SAYS PRODUCTION DELAY IS DUE TO SCRIPT CHANGES

courtesy of takungpao.com

Rumors about the Peter Chan Ho Sun produced new film THE FLYING GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) have surfaced, including the screenplay has not been approved, disputes between producer Chan Ho Sun and director Teddy Chan Tak Shun, director change with Andrew Lau Wai Keung, the production start delay to August and even possibly cast changes. Chan Ho Sun yesterday personally clarified and one of the lead actors Huang Xiaoming also gave Chan Ho Sun a vote of confidence. Even if the film was postponed, he was willing to keep waiting.

Chan Ho Sun said that the film indeed will delay its production start. As for director change, he also admitted that earlier before planning THE FLYING GUILLOTINES he indeed approached Lau Wai Keung. He said, "For collaborations I of course pick my closest friends, since we know each other so well. However at the time Lau Wai Keung had ten movies on hand, and Chan Tak Sum's schedule was the most suitable to the original production start time. Now that the production start has been postponed, and the main reason is we suddenly thought of an all new script direction. All the changes will depend on the progress of the script. Actor schedules may have to be arranged anew, but a good story truly doesn't have to worry about having no one."

Chan Tak Sum said, "The main reason is the script is still being changed. With all new elements, it is even more exciting than before. The screen writer (Aubrey) Lam Oi Wa has been working night and day, but ultimately the structural adjustments will require some time. Honestly, I am a little worried about the scheduling. With so many actor schedules having to change, the team's schedule is even harder to adjust. However I hope that we keep each other in mind in the end." Huang Xiaoming continued his support. "I haven't received any team change news, only a notice that filming has been postponed. I only have the word 'trust' in Director Chan Ho Sun."

As for the script's pending approval, promotional director Ms. Meng denied and said, "Our new script hasn't even been written yet, so it hasn't been sent for inspection. How can it not pass?" As for the dispute between Chan Ho Sun and Chan Tak Sum, Ms. Meng said, "Since the start of BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) they have been rumored to be at odds, after its completion they were rumored to be at odds again. During the Hong Kong Film Award celebration people still talked about it. As they worked together, they kept being rumored to be at odds. If they really were at odds, why would Chan Ho Sun ask Chan Tak Sum to make THE FLYING GUILLOTINES? Wouldn't he just be asking for trouble? Chan Tak Sum two days ago was still talking with Chan Ho Sun about the new script."

[2011.02.12] ETHAN JUAN TURNS DOWN STEPHEN CHOW AND TSUI HARK FOR FLYING GUILLOTINES

courtesy of singtao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Peter Chan Ho Sun produced, Teddy Chan Tak Sum directed and the BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) team created new film FLYING GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) made its first appearance at the Berlin Film Festival. FLYING GUILLOTINES was an end of Qing Dynasty/early Republic hidden weapon, the name of which sent chills down people's spines in the novels. In the 70s Shaw already made two films on the subject.

Chan Ho Sun and Chan Tak Sun team up again after BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS. According to the martial art film Chan Tak Sum revealed that the FLYING GUILLOTINES design would be "the most intimidating hidden weapon in Chinese film history". From the structure, FLYING GUILLOTINES indeed somewhat resembled BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS as it would be about a group of a young SWAT team that fought for justice and their beliefs. Ethan Juan (Yuen Siu Tin) caught both Chan Ho Sun and Chan Tak Sum's eyes. Siu Tin for this film turned down movies with Tsui Hark and Stephen Chow Sing Chi in order to fully prepare. In addition, Huang Xiaoming who Chan Ho Sun called "the face of Asia" could not make BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS due to scheduling conflict finally was able to work with two famous directors, which was also a wish come true.

[2010.11.22] TEDDY CHAN SAYS NOMINATIONS WERE ENOUGH

Nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Golden Horse Award with BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING), Nicholas Tse Ting Fung did not win and was absent from the celebration. Yet BODYGUARDS director Teddy Chan Tak Sum attended. He thought that despite only winning the Best Makeup & Costume Design award, he thought that the 9 nominations were already enough.

Chan Tak Sum said, "Awards are hard to say, it's not like you want it you get it. (Was Ting Fung nervous?) Like me it was nothing special, although we won just one award, the support of so many friends already made me very happy. (Did you console Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung?) We were both nominated but didn't win, film is for the audience and work, how can we have both."

The 47th Taiwan Golden Horse Award tonight will take place in Taoyuan. Ethan Juan (Yuen Siu Tin) with MONGA received his first Best Actor nomination. Last night Siu Tin dressed up for the pre race party and appeared with Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Teddy Chan Tak Sum and
others. Facing strong competition, Siu Tin humbly said, "I am not nervous at all, tomorrow I will be relaxed as well. The nomination is already very good. Because I have never participated before, I just found out that the nomination had a certificate. It's like everyone gets a prize."

When asked whether he will walk the red carpet with his girlfriend Tiffany Hsu, he siad, "Tomorrow night my female companion will be my boss!"

Because both Wang Xueqi and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung were busy with work, only director Chan Tak Sum represented BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) last night. He was very confident about Wang Xueqi's chances. "He made the entire film much more lively. Teacher Wang said that he would try to make time and come."

According to news from Taiwan, with 9 nominations BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS ran into two strong Taiwan films SEVEN DAYS IN HEAVEN and WHEN LOVE COMES and might not win Best Picture and Best Director. However lead actor Wang Xueqi and supporting actor Tse Ting Fung remained favorites. Best Supporting Actress would be between Zhang Jingchu and SEVEN DAYS IN HEAVEN's Cheung Si-Yin.

[2009.06.01] ZHOU YUN JOINS BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS

The New Year film BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) has already completed half its shoot in Shanghai. After the appearance of Fan Bingbing and Li Yuchun, the film's other female lead, Zhou Yun, who in the film grew up with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung joined the cast quietly on the eve of June 1 Children's Day. Since both Tse Ting Fung and Zhou Yun are parents, although they met for the first time the topic of children brought them closer and very quickly put them into the film's "lover" condition.

Zhou Yun who was busy slimming down after giving birth was absent from the film's earlier press conference, but director Teddy Chan Tak Sum expressed, "Zhou Yun was our first confirmed actress." As early as eight years ago, Chan Tak Sum has wanted to work with Zhou Yun on a new film; after several misses they could not work together successfully. This time he approached Zhou Yun again but learned that she just gave birth to her second son. He thought that he would have to be sorry again. Then Zhou Yun read the script and was very attracted to the character. She immediately decided to train for this "eight year long appointment" and rapidly slimmed down.

Ting Fung and Zhou Yun on the set talked about their children. Although both families' "star babies" had different educational environment, they agreed that they could not spoil their children. When they should educate them they would have to "educate" them. On their children's future choices, they felt that they should respect their children, but both seemed to lean against letting their children come in contact with show business too soon.
