[2011.04.17] MIRIAM YEUNG FACES THE BEST ACTRESS COMPETITION NORMALLY

courtesy of singtao.com

Already a heavenly queen in music, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa in recent years appeared at the Hong Kong Film Award mostly as a spectator. On tonight's Hong Kong Film Award, Chin Wa with the film LOVE IN A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU) received her first Best Actress nomination and competed against Carina Lau Ka Ling, Tang Wei, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei and Josie Ho Chiu Yi. Chin Wa honestly said that she had the ambition to win she had little in real confidence. She would enjoy being able to sit next to veteran Lau Ka Ling, being nominated together she was already satisfied. Chin Wa supported the veteran. Ka Ling earlier also picked Chin Wa. Chin Wa was pleasantly surprised, "I am very scared. Did she really say that? If she praises me, I am really very happy! From the day I participate in New Talent, I would've never imagine myself sitting next to Sister Ka Ling with a nomination. That tension even without an award is already an encouragement."

Chin Wa said that at first when she learned that she was nominated for Best Actress, she indeed had strong ambitions. She made a comparison. "It's like being a singer for the first time, wouldn't you want to win the Most Popular female singer? Thus appears the mentality to prove myself. I absolutely have this ambition, but having ambition doesn't mean having confidence. The competition is truly too strong."

In the face of strong competition, Chin Wa naturally has to learn to treat winning and losing normally. Luckily she has Real Ting Chi Ko next to her. "Mr. Ting doesn't encourage me, but he often criticizes me. At first I couldn't help but ask, 'What are you doing!' Later he explained that I had to face the award normally. Since I wasn't acting much, I didn't deserved the award. He wants me to expect the worst. If I win I would be even happier, if I don't I wouldn't be disappointed. He said that was positive energy. Earlier when I read the natural disaster news, I asked him 'it's like the end of the world are we still having children?' he immediately said don't think too much. If the world truly ends, then the baby would be destined to be Neon Genesis Evangelion."

This year can be said as Chin Wa's harvest year in film. Earlier with the film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) she received the Hong Kong Film Critic Society Best Actress award. She was very happy to be recognized and had to thank all the directors who yelled at her. "I started as a singer, I learned as I worked. Patient directors would have time to teach you, some directors wouldn't expect to teach you any lesson so inevitably I got yelled at. However I have to thank them for being willing to yell at me." As for any new attempt in her future roles, she said, "I feel directors and screen writers would decide that. Why do I want this award so badly this time? One of the reasons is I hope after winning an award I would have more chances to make different types of movies, or directors would be more confident in me. Actually the most important word to actors is opportunity."

[2011.04.11] MIRIAM YEUNG'S HUSBAND THROWS COLD WATER ON HER NOMINATIONc

courtesy of takungpao.com

The "laughing lady" Miriam Yeung Chin Wa in the past made mostly comedies. Earlier with the romance PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) she won her first Best Actress award at the Film Critic Society. At the same time she was nominated for a Best Actress Hong Kong Film Award with LOVE IN A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU). The award show will take place in a week. Chin Wa honestly said that she was not nervous because her husband Real Ting Chi Ko already prepared her mentally.

Chin Wai spoke about the annual award show earlier. The Best Actress nominee was not nervous at all and she painted with light strokes throughout. She said, "I am not as nervous as I expected. My husband has already indoctrinated me with a lot of ideas, I am all calm." She pointed out that her husband would not only give her opinions on films but also on some reports. If he thought that she needed improvement he would suggest it to her.

Chin Wa pointed out that her husband said that this time she should not have much chance to win. She said, "I am OK. I am such a big girl now. I understand what he means. He hopes that I don't worry too much." Chin Wa said that it was very rare to find another half who listens and is able to give her power. Was she looking forward to it herself? She honestly said that whether with awards or something else, even record releases she would look forward to.

As for this year's competition, Chin Wa said that she has seen the other nominees' films. However she thought every film had a different subject, which was truly very hard to compare. For example Fiona Sit Hoi Kei's BREAK UP CLUB (FUN SAU SHUET OI NEI) character she would be too old to play; Sister Ka Ling (Carina Lau)'s DETECTIVE DEE (DIK YUN KIT) Wu Zetian had style and domination; (Josie Ho) Chiu Yi in DREAM HOME (WAI DOR LEI AH YUT HO) performance was thoroughly different from before; Tang Wei in CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI) had a rhythm in her performance, which was different from the academic style in her mind. She did not know where the jury lines lay but she was very confident about "Chun Giu". Since she was emotionally calm, she would not have any pressure. LOVE IN A PUFF was a film that was close to reality, some viewers thought Chin Wa was playing herself. Yet some viewers thought her performance was "natural", which instead was hard to do. Chin Wa said, "Being naturally is very hard, so I have to believe in the director's evaluation. If the audience feels I am playing myself, it is still a sense of satisfaction. However it isn't completely me. I am tougher than 'Chun Giu'."

Chin Wa said that this year she will make movies as she will not stop working deliberately to have a baby. She said, "Even if I took a year off to have a child, I still might not be able to." She honestly said that the married life gave her strength. Her husband would not interfere with her work. He would only analyze for her as a consumer and would never stop her from making intimate scenes. At most he would not watch it. Why did she not ask her husband to be his manager? She said, "No way! He would be waiting to get fired. We can't work together, it would harm our relationship."

[2011.02.28] MIRIAM YEUNG PRAISES RAYMOND LAM

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy fo takungpao.com

The film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) that won Miriam Yeung Chin Wa the Hong Kong Film Critic Society Best Actress Award will premiere on March 5 on TVB pay television movie channel. Chin Wa yesterday attended the promotion with actor Raymond Lam Fung, Pierre Ngo Ka Nin and director Barbara Wong Chun Chun. Everyone raised glasses to toast Chin Wa's Best Actress award. Hong Kong's Madame Tussaud's loaned Chin Wa's wax figure for Chin Wa to personally change it into the film's costume.

Lam Fung last year due to work could not attend Chin Wa's wedding. Chin Wa joked that she had to make him buy dinner. Lam Fung generously agreed to take her to ten meals to make up. Chin Wa joked that they would eat from Hong Kong to Xiamen, then go on an island tour. She also joked, "I have to learn to invest, frying rice noodle, property!" Lam Fung said that she could have a discount on property purchase. When Lam Fung presented awards to fans, fans had to pick colors and he coaxed them as attentively as he would with his girlfriend. Chin Wa said that he had quite a rich kid feel. Lam Fung's chok look was known everywhere. Lately Michael Tse Tin Wa's THE RIPPLING BLOSSOM (YU YUEK JOI FA GEIN) look was very chok and very much like him. Lam Fung said, "He is more chok, he has always been more chok than me. I have known him for years, I lost. (Was he impersonating you?) We each have our own style." Chin Wa was asked whether her husband or Lam Fung more chok. He said that her husband at the concert impersonated Lam Fung, perhaps because he has been around Lam Fung more.

Speaking of Leong Lok Si's break up announcement, Chin Wa said that this was a personal matter between two people and outsiders should not comment. In addition she had no idea what happened. As long as they were able to resolve it then it was fine. Did she feel their children were very innocent? She said, "Adults would come to an understanding before issuing a statement. I believed that they handled it before the announcement. Outsiders should not comment." Lam Fung's opinion was similar to Chin Wa's. Leong Lok Si was rumored to receive 3 billion for the break up. He was surprised. "Really? No way." Would he support Leong Lok Si's comeback? He asked, "Coming back to our company? (Would you welcome her?) I don't know, we didn't have a chance to work together before. I would like to work with anyone who I haven't worked with."

The Hong Kong Film Critic Society yesterday announced the 2010 Hong Kong Film Critic Society Award winners. With two nominated films Miriam Yeung Chin Wa with PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) defeated Tang Wei and Kwai Lun-Mei to win her first Best Actress. Teddy Robin Kwan with GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) defeated Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Simon Yam Tat Wa and Chapman To Man Jat to win Best Actor. GALLANTS also won Best Picture.

Yesterday the Hong Kong Film Critic Society announced its award winners. This year's results after eight hours of discussions and three rounds of voting were chosen. Yeung Chin Wa was nominated with LOVE IN A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU) and PERFECT WEDDING and finally won with PERFECT. Chin Wa as the city woman was full of rhythm and at the same time had her own style, thus she won. Chin Wa was very happy about winning Best Actress and felt that it was lucky. She said that before taking every role she never thought about winning. She only thought about playing the role well. This award truly was a very pleasant surprise.

Chin Wa said that everyone has only recognized her singer identity. This time recognized as an actress she truly was very excited. She hoped in the future more directors would give her the chance to try even more different characters. She definitely would work hard. Chin Wa also said that when she learned that she won the Best Actress, she suddenly remembered the title of Lau Ching Wan's film MY NAME IS FAME (NGOR YIU SING MING). Actually when someone seriously worked hard and persisted to the end she would finally be recognized. She also pointed out that film was a group project that required the hard work of many. She thanked Ms. Elaine Lok Yi Ling, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui and Barbara Wong Chun Chun for giving her such a great script. This script went very in depth with the emotional upheaval of a 30 year old woman. Chin Wa said that her favorite scene with the chat with Teresa Mo Shun Kwan at the
spa, which was able to speak for a group of career women. She also liked her relationship with Eric Kot Man Fai in the film. She said, "Maybe she too had experience in handling exes, ha ha......I know that painful feeling and emotion so I was able to be more at ease with the
performance."

Best Actor went to GALLANTS' Teddy Robin Kwan, who won because his character was not mainstream. Yet in the second half of the story he had quite a presence. His body language and voice were full of a grand master style, as he successfully defeated LA COMEDIE HUMAINE (YUN GAN HEI KET)'s To Man Jat, STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN)'s Cheung Ka Fai and ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU)'s Yam Tat Wa.

Lau Tak Wa's release GALLANTS also won Best Picture. Best Director went to REIGN OF ASSASSINS (GIM YU)'s Su Chao-Bin. Ivy Ho (Ong Sai) with CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI) won Best Screenplay. In addition, this year's seven recommended films were REIGN OF ASSASSINS, STOOL PIGEON, BREAKING THE WILLOW (FUNG GUOON CHING SI), LA COMEDIE HUMAINE, LIKE DREAM (YU MUNG), LOVE IN A PUFF and CROSSING HENNESSY. The award ceremony will take place on February 22 at the Hong Kong Film Archive.

The 2010 Miss Chinese International pageant took place last night in Tianjun. Raymond Lam Fung and TVB executive Elaine Lok Yi Ling attended and met with the media before the pageant to discuss Shaw executive Wong Ka Hei accusing Lam Fung of lacking film market and revealing Mona Fong Yat Wa criticized Eric Tsang Chi Wai's Lunar New Year film script as poor, unwilling to respond to the production.

Lam Fung said that he has not read the report and humbly said that this year was a start for him in film and thus he would accept all elders' opinions and work hard on himself. He also pointed out that PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN)'s box office has already exceeded 15 million. He has been in the business for over a decade and was already used to growing up in different noises. Ms. Lok handed him a folder and said that it was from Fong Yat Wa. Lam Fung opened it and was surprised to find a personally written letter from Ms. Fong. It said "don't be afraid of gossip, waves of good reviews, achieve good performance again." He was obviously touched and stressed that he was not displeased over Wong Ka Hei's comments. He would try to improve from elders' review of himself.

Has Lok Yi Ling asked executives not to drink anymore? She nodded and said that quitting drinking. Was Ms. Fong upset at Wong Ka Hei's comment? She said, "Every week we have a meeting. Ms. Fong talked about this with everyone. She wasn't upset, only thought that the matter was severe. Later she took Tsang Chi Wai's call and learned that the matter was not as such." Speaking of Ms. Fong criticizing Chi Wai's Lunar New Year film script as poor, Ms. Lok stressed that Ms. Lok and Chi Wai only met over. Ms. Fong also rarely participated in such matter and only asked Chi Wai to make a happy movie like before. As for the reason for the production delay, Ms. Lok pointed out that originally they wanted to make a story about a tour bus. Due to the Philippines hostage incident they switched to another story with Hong Kong emotions. When Chi Wai was selling the idea, Wong Ka Hei was not present. Ms. Lok also pointed out after the matter, Wong Ka Hei called Chi Wai to apologize. She said that she has known Wong Ka Hei for a long time and he liked to drink beer to relieve stress. Would she supporting Lam Fung? She certainly said, "Sure! Artists must be supported!"

[2010.10.29] KATE TSUI SUPPORTS RAYMOND LAM'S IMPROVEMENT

courtesy of on.cc

courtesy of takungpao.com

Kate Tsui Tsz Shan yesterday attended a Xbox 360 new dance game event. Reportedly Mona Fong Yat Wa wrote Shaw executive Wong Ka Hei, who said at the new Shaw film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) event that Raymond Lam Fung had no film market and thus the film THE JADE AND THE PEARL (FEI CHUI MING JU) only made 3.15 million. Tsz Shan who worked with Lam Fung in PERFECT disagreed. She said that Lam Fung's acting is improving and as far as she knew PERFECT was performing decently at the box office.

However, even the director Barbara Wong Chun Chun earlier criticized television artists for having no film sense when making movies. Tsz Shan honestly said that she and Wong Chun Chun have discussed the subject and believed that the media misunderstood her meaning. She said, "Chun Chun has confidence in us, otherwise why would she ask us to make the movies? Hopefully I will have a chance to work with her again. (Was your confidence shaken?) No, I will accept all criticism and make myself perform better in the future."

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Raymond Lam Fung two nights ago attended the film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) celebration. The film's production supervisor Wong Ka Hei revealed under the influence of alcohol that Eric Tsang Chi Wai who originally was working on I LOVE HONG KONG for Shaw will no longer make this film. He explained that because boss Mona Fong Yat Wa thought the story that only revolved with Hong Kong housing project was truly too limited. Chi Wai conducted an analysis afterward and decided against making it. Wong Ka Hei pointed out that Chi Wai felt if the film was made and became a hit, it was an insult to the boss. If it performed poorly, the entire production team had no value to exist. Thus Chi Wai said that the smartest way was not to make it. Wong Ka Hei said that he has also written a letter to Chi Wai to explain to him that if he gave up the production, everyone would suffer even greater losses. Since the cinemas have already been scheduled, if the film was not made then the investment would be lost. He also pointed out that the boss' words could be treated as encouragement for everyone. Chi Wai responded to him and said that he was very pleased to see the letter. He even joked that he would frame the letter, now Chi Wai has decided to continue to make this film. As for PERFECT WEDDING's decent performance, he was very pleased. He also pointed out that his only failure so far was the earlier THE JADE AND THE PEARL (FEI CHUI MING JU) as he miscalculated Lam Fung's film draw.

In the film Lam Fung after breaking up with girlfriend Yeung Chin Wa learned that she would marry her former fiance Eric Kot Man Fai and was heartbroken and drunk. Chau Sau Na took advantage and triggered a passionate bed scene. Reportedly, Chau Sau Na and Lam Fung needed several takes but the result was great. The Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Raymond Lam Fung, and Chrissie Chau Sau Na starred new film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PI CHIU GAI YUN) yesterday held a press conference in Guangzhou. Yeung Chin Wa hoped to win Best Actress with this film. Chin Wa said, "I am much older than Lam Fung, when I promote I should have it first. I will see Wai Ying Hung as my target." Later Chin Wa said that an award depended on timing and location. She said that she was confident in the box office, director Barbara Wong Chun Chun even predicted that the Mainland box office will reach 50 million yuan.

Chin Wa was asked about old flame Ronald Cheng Chung Kei. She did not respond and only said that they have not been in contact for a long time. She also joked that she was 30 something and her brain capacity was limited. She said, "I now already have reached a new stage in life, anything I have to forget I have already forgotten."

Will Chin Wa play she and her husband's performance at her concert during her wedding? She said they should perform live then. As for the progress, Chin Wa said, "My husband is responsible for everything. The happiest was the registration moment. The banquet is out of respect for family."

In addition, after Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and William Chan Wai Ting's relationship was publicized they were called "pointy chin couple", hinting that they had plastic surgery. Lam Fung who earlier was also accused of plastic surgery at the TVB anniversary said, "Ah Sa's face has always been pointy, seemingly nothing is unnatural. She is dating, of course she would look pretty."

Chau Sau Na and Lam Fung in the film had an intimate bed scene. Chau Sau Na joked that after watching it she had difficulty breathing. She said, "I shot that part in front of a mirror, the result was very multidimensional. I savor it a lot." Chau Sau Na was not worried that her boyfriend would be upset and even bought tickets in advance to force him to watch with her. Chau Sau Na also said that one bed scene was enough, she did not need more.

Kate Tsui Tsz Shan did not have a chance to work on a bed scene in the film, she pointed out that she was mentally ready at anytime. She said, "The most important is exercising to stay in shape and the director's request is reasonable."

[2010.10.14] MIRIAM YEUNG AND RAYMOND LAM DID ALL THEIR HOMEWORK

Did this kiss scene between Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Raymond Lam Fung make her husband Real Ting Chi Ko jealous?

courtesy of mingpao.com

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa's husband Real Ting Chi Ko was jealous when he said that he did not want to see her new film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN). In the film Chin Wa and Raymond Lam Fung had many kiss scenes. How intense were they? Yesterday the kiss scene photos were unveiled. After working together on the TVB series A TASTE OF LOVE (MEI MEI CHING YUEN) 9 years ago, they reunited for the film PERFECT WEDDING. Although during the shoot Chin Wa was already married to Ting Chi Ko, she was very professional. In the film she had an older woman, younger man relationship, many bed scenes and kiss scenes. She did all of her homework and was in character. Director Barbara Wong Chun Chun mentioned that in one bar scene, they drank and flirted and drank more and more. They completely had the reluctant to part feeling of a couple in love. Thus the director felt that Ting Chi Ko after watching might truly be jealous and no longer permit Chin Wa to work on another film.

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa's first record after returning to Capital Artists, HOM, was released on October 7 along with the first show of her concert. In four short days it already has turned gold in sales as the first edition was sold out. Although Capital Artists two days ago immediately printed more, at the final show last night the record sales stalls were out of stock. Yesterday boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok brought over HK$10,000 in champagne to celebrate with Chin Wa at the Hong Kong Coliseum. However after opening the bottle, the boss only permitted Chin Wa to pretend to drink from the bottle. "At the after party you can have ten cases! You have to wrap up the last show first!"

Two nights ago Chin Wa's fourth concert had Raymond Lam Fung as her guest. Lam Fung even appeared in a kilt. Chin Wa asked him why he wore a dress. Lam Fung joked, "Of course! We are good sisters!" Chin Wa and Lam Fung's new film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO YAU CHING YUN) will soon be released, Lam Fung took the chance to ask Chin Wa whether she told her
husband not to go. Off stage, Real Ting Chi Ko stood up and said, "It's not that I don't want to watch it, I don't want to see the two of you like that.....it's uncomfortable!" Lam Fung asked Ting Chi Ko whether he would just stare at Chrissie Chau Sau Na? Ting Chi Ko said, "Sorry, I don't
drink that cup of tea." Also at the show were Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Joe Chen Qiao-En, Lam Jik, Bernice Liu Bik Yi, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui and Barbara Wong Chun Chun.

Raymond Lam Fung, Kate Tsui Tsz Shan, Anke Bui On Kei, Oceana Zhu Xuan, Pierre Ngo Ka Nin and others yesterday promoted their film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN). Yesterday was October 10, 2010, known as the perfect ten lucky day. 10 newlywed couples were invited to the event. Lam Fung said that he would like to choose a special day for his wedding in the future, but because work has been too busy he believed scheduling would not be easy. He also said, "Earlier I have seen wedding photos overseas look very pretty at a wedding shop, so I would like to shoot wedding photos overseas in the future too."

Due to the film's lead actress Miriam Yeung Chin Wa concert performances, the promotion responsibility lay with lead actor Lam Fung alone. "Chin Wa's concert is even greater promotion for the film. Tonight I will be her guest performer and sing her song. Producer (Lawrence) Cheng Tan Shui even asked me to promote this movie no matter what." he said that he had confidence in the box office because viewer responses were great after the screening. This character was a new attempt for him and he hoped viewers would be able to accept him.

Lam Fung just promoted in Wuhan. He revealed that he has been working on his new film WHITE SNAKE (BAK SEH JUEN) there. Although he did not have too many action scenes, he still had "wire" work so both his arms were bruised. He also said that in the film he had scenes with Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) and compliment him as a nice guy.

Tsui Tsz Shan in the film played a "sister" of Yeung Chin Wa, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan and others. They were all professionally successful "leftover women", so their costumes were very pretty and stylish. Did she use her own clothes? She said, "Sure, I borrowed a few dresses to dress up a little so I can truly flaunt in the film."

Yesterday Lam Fung had a scar on his right arm. He explained that when he worked on a film in the Mainland earlier he was injured, but it was minor.

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa in the film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) played an arrogant wedding consultant who develops a relationship with Raymond Lam Fung. Chin Wa in order to keep each other from unnecessary pressure, she does everything she can to keep the relationship from exposure. However, they also have their sweet moments. In one scene after they complete a wedding with the most heart, as soon as the attentive Lam Fung hears Chin Wa complains about her tired legs he immediately gives her a foot massage. Chin Wa is deeply attracted to the naive yet passionate Lam Fung. She lies on the ground and chats, the more they chat the closer they get.

Because no one knows that they are dating, the sexy Chrissie Chau Sau Na takes the initiative with Lam Fung. In one scene she fantasizes herself in a wedding gown to wait for Lam Fung.

[2010.09.09] MARRIED MIRIAM YEUNG WATCHES HER WORDS

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Juno Mak Chun Lung last night attended a Milk 4th anniversary party. Chin Wa revealed that in the middle of the month she will shut down to prepare for her concert and joked that now she would fall asleep when she was not speaking. Was her husband Real Ting Chi Ko's heart aching? She said no, instead he called her fat and had to whip her into shape.

Chin Wa and Raymond Lam Fung's film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) poster was accused of copying old foreign film YOURS MINE AND OURS. Chin Wa had no idea and did not feel they resembled each other. In the poster she had Lam Fung between her legs, also present was Chrissie Chau Sau Na. She joked that poster was too intimate and she did not dare to let her husband see it. At the release she would have to explain that it was a merged photo. Her husband should have no idea.

Did Lam Fung get sick after Chin Wa squeeze him? She said, "No, the poster was shot over a month ago. During the shoot Lam Fung was rather embarrassed. I was the older sister so I told him to hurry and pose for the picture." Would she rather squeeze Lam Fung or her husband?
Chin Wa said, "Actually the shoot was rather tough, I had to suck in my belly in mid air, stick out my chest and put my legs at 90 degrees. I truly couldn't enjoy it. Normally I wouldn't be like this, I wouldn't make it hard on myself." Chin Wa said after the shoot her legs were all
stiff. "My legs were stiff, I have to be careful with what I say since I am someone's wife."
